1 transformation.

Not 2 or 3. That's overkill and repetitive.

Just when they think they've won during the middle of the movie... BAM.

Other than that, Freeza should be done the way Davy Jones was done in Pirates of the Caribbean 2. Not all CGI, but definitely some.

And no Ginyu force or lame jokes.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

You take away core elements from the original and you begin to lose part of why you're trying to make money off a live action adaptation in the first place.

Davy Jones was entirely CGI.

ILM did a very good job.

Shit, are you sure about that? I heard otherwise somewhere. But that's really cool.

It's true, here is one place to read about it. Even Davy's eyes are wholly computer-generated. The great thing about Jones is that he's so realistic people don't even realize they're looking at one of the finest CG characters ever made.

He isn't entirely CGI since the body is from a real man.

No, he was motion captured from the actor who was actually on-set and then digitally composited over the top.

I think Freeza with two transformations _could_ work if handled well.
Most of the time we see him in his first form.
Around the time the pre-final action stuff starts (Whatever the movie's equivalent of "Goku's healing" is), Freeza transformas for the first time.
We'd only briefly see Freeza's final form as a last ditch effort to defeat Goku, and then dead Freeza.
Or mutilated Freeza, depending on what direction it'd go. *Ponders Darth Freeza's potential role had Trunks not made parade decorations out of him*.
