I don't think FUNi would need Viz to get Slump. They picked up DBZ independently and Viz later got the manga.

Plus, I honestly think if FUNi wanted Slump, they'd have gotten it a long time ago.

It might not be about Dragon Ball (though the Jump Special would be nice). It could be about One Piece or Full Metal Alchemist.

Sebastian (SB) wrote: How about both. I'd like to see them try get the DB OVA released and some One Piece stuffage.
There is no OVA!

(Well... there sorta is.)

Oh wow, I thought I had heard of a screening of the tenth film. O.o
I had heard that, too. Not that it was released, just that it was one-time showing at a con or something like that.

Yes, on the European Film Market Festival in Berlin. For business people ONLY (and so, of course, only in Japanese).

I hope it's either the Jump Special or the Daizenshuus. Couldn't think of anything else DB related that they would need to license.
Just another Dragon Ball fangirl in the world.

DB & Tiger and Bunny are my main fandoms, along with many other animes.

I zoomed 1000% to read that then found out there was a better way :(.

I like how DragonBall is so amazing that news goes unnoticed :D . (Well, actually it might not be DragonBall but still).

I'd really like a release for the rest of the Daizenshuu's, it would be super exciting. (HAHA I'm so funny).

Is this the same VIZ who publish the manga?
If so, perhaps a continuation of the English Daizenshuu?
I'm still waiting on my Kanzenban release though.

You'll be waiting quite awhile. Viz still has three more volumes to go for their Viz Big version and I'm sure there'll be more delays.

No they haven't, but considering France and Germany has supposedly already gotten the film, not to mention how huge the release was in Japan I don't doubt they're looking into it.
Wait ... No One Piece movie was released in Germany. However the TV show aires on and off (currently episode 320 I think).
I'm pretty sure the german airing went to 400 already.

No it wouldn't. It's a show for kids.

Yes. The same channel that wants nothing to do with it. :P

One Piece is fine where it currently is, being discussed by its fans on Dragon Ball message boards.

I personally think that it might have to do with Dragon Ball Kai, specifically a redub of sorts? Maybe. Hopefully.

Edit: Either that or the Jump Special. Something tells me that it's one of the two.

Can't believe I didn't find this topic, but it sounds great, though for all we know Funi are going to buy Viz...

Keeping my fingers crossed for the Jump Special and more English Daizenshuu (they need permission to have screen shots of the anime series, right?)

Franchises that Viz and Funimation share:

Black Cat
Case Closed
Claymore
DragonBall
DragonBall Z
D.Gray-Man
Excel Saga
Fullmetal Alchemist
One Piece
Shakugan No Shana (via Geneon distribution deal)
X
YuYu Hakusho

I may have missed a few. Also, Viz titles have previously aired on Funimation's television channel, so...

I was skimming over ANN's encylcopedia entry for Viz's stuff, so it's possible I may have missed some more stuff. I missed Ouran, so meh.

There were rumors last year that the cast of YuYu Hakusho were going back to the studio to record some new things. Many expect that would be some special musical episodes, or the movies. Don't know if Shueshia would have control over that.
