Which will you get Dragon Ball Z Kai Part 1 or Dragon Box 3?

I'll be getting Dragon Box 3. As much as I'd like to pick up Kai as well, I lack a Blu-ray player and an HD TV, and there's really no point in me getting it if I can't watch it in High Definition. (Especially considering the regular DVDs are cropped, presumably for the American release as well.) And with the latest "Blue Brick" coming out around the same time, I'm starting to wonder just how much Dragon Ball I can handle. I'll hold out on getting Kai until at least all of the Blue Bricks are release. Provided I have a good TV by then.

Definitely planning on getting Box 3. (Though I still haven't bought the second one!) Whether (or when) I get Kai will probably depend a lot on how the dub turns out.

I don't care for how FUNimation releases parts and later on they release a full season 1 That is usually cheaper...

So for me I will buy the DBOX Vol.3 and I might buy Kai also...

The only thing I like about Kai is the OST.

I'm going to go with Kai. The only filler I enjoyed was in the movies and in the Saiyan saga, so there wasn't even motivation enough for me to get the first DBox, as I already had the first Orange Brick.

I pre-ordered both.

The Dragonboxes are a must have for me, as Z is what I know and love, however Kai will at least give me a reason to re-watch the series yet again even if it is a few years down the line.

Dragon Box 3. I'm interested in having all of Dragon Ball Z, and the editing in Kai turns me off. Part of my interest in Dragon Ball is nostalgia, and part of it is being able to finally see the entire anime in its original, unbutchered form for the first time via the Dragon Boxes. Kai has neither of those qualities. I'll probably give the dub a glance when it starts airing, but I don't have much of a reason to spend my time or money on it. To sustain my interest, it would have to have a sheer entertainment factor greater than Abridged, which I just don't see happening.

I'm going to get Dragon Box 3 since I want all the Dragon Boxes. As for Kai, I might get later when the DBOXES are all released.

DBox 3, for me. Kai does sounds tempting, what with the new dub potentially being more accurate and all, but seeing the series in its original, untampered form via the DBoxes is just too good to pass up.
I just don't see the logic in me owning two versions of the show, when I just don't hate the filler like some folks do.
FUNimation already fooled me with the season sets, and they're not gonna do it again in making get more DBZ than I've already gotten.

I'm collecting the Dragonboxes to finally get the series the way I always wanted it. Dragonball Kai doesn't really interest me much to be honest. I suppose I could be persuaded to purchase the first set just to see what they did with it, and to have a version of it on Blu-ray disc. However, it is going to take some convincing to get me to that point to shell out for yet another version beyond the Dragonboxes.

If they are indeed redubbing for Kai, and happen to dub the end of the Saiyan Saga fight between Goku and Vegeta correctly for once, then that is what would push me over the deciding line to make a purchase. Ever fiber of me despises that bit about sparing Vegeta for righteous reasons. It was Son's bloodlust for a rematch and a chance to win outright that drove him to spare Vegeta, not any sentimental BS.

Vegeta became the Oozaru and crushed him, hitting Vegeta with the Spirit Bomb and Oozaru Gohan falling on him were desperation moves to survive the encounter. Neither of them won outright, they were both broken and beaten after that fight. Goku wanted a rematch, pure and simple.

That garbage line about sparing Piccolo irks me too. He spared Piccolo for similiar reasons. He was able to cop out under not killing him to spare Kami too, but the true reason was his saiyan bloodlust for life or death struggle. Which, at that point, only Piccolo could possibly provide. What was the point being strongest in the world without an opponent to face? Goku's only period of weakness was then, between DB and Z. When Raditz came, it only proved that he had been slacking, and once he realized there were forces way stronger than himself in the Galaxy, he never let up after that.

Piccolo and Goku never buried the hatchet and became friends until they trained together to face the Androids. Until that point, the Saiyans, and ultimately Freeza were both bigger threats than their struggle with each other for dominance of the earth. Slowly Piccolo DID soften during this time due to Gohan, but he did not view Goku as a friend until after preparations for the Androids either. In those training sessions, they worked out whatever aggression they had left towards each other.

So that line about sparing Piccolo so he could become an ally later and a "great friend" is equal BS, because that turn of events never took place until much later too.

If they fix that scene in Kai, then that alone would be reason enough for me to own that dub, otherwise I have little to no interest in it.

Hm, as for someone without a job, I'd like to say both, but if I can get one...It'd be the Dragon Box.

1. It's cheaper
2. I'd like to own the Blu-Rays of Kai some day, whenever I can get a player.

However, now that computer Blu-Ray drives are going down ($70 or so?), I may have to conciser picking one up when I can. My first purchase, would be Kai (Or one of the movie Blu-Rays).

Initially, in the podcast, I said I would give priority to the Kai BDs and go back for the DBox DVDs later. However, since Kai is coming to TV and since FUNimation is giving Kai an accurate dub it'll give me a chance to check out the dub without actually having to buy anything. So, here are my options:

1) I like the dub enough to just watch Kai on TV for free and just buy the DBox for the time being, coming back for Kai after the DBox has finished being released.

2) I like the dub for real and it ends up coming out for download on the Playstation store and I buy it one episode at a time so I can watch it whenever, wherever on PSP and only have the DBox as my big purchase.

3) I don't like the dub at all and I put priority on the Kai BDs so I can watch it in Japanese, coming back for the DBox in between Kai releases as I can afford it.

Either way, I'll get both. It just depends on Kai's TV broadcast before I decide when I get what I get and what format it's in.
