Dragon Ball Z Back In Croatia

Post by wjbraden » Tue Mar 22, 2011 1:41 am

Dragon Ball Z is back in Croatia again, it appears after 8 years on the channel RTL Televizija. Also the new dub has a dubbed version of Cha-La-Head-Cha-La (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPPX196-ohc) that interestingly uses the German instrumentals of the song.

New dub? Is there the old dub? Wow, I didn't know that.

I assumed it was a new dub because the audio quality is pretty good compared to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8YUrjnrZDM).

I thought it was pretty catchy too, I almost thought it it was a really good fandub until I looked at the RTL website and saw it was legit. I wonder if any of the endings are dubbed as well or opening 2 (although its going to be a while until those epsiodes are shown.

BTW Kei 17, I know this is offtopic, but I pm'd you about that Hindi dubbed clip of Dragon Ball and you said you found it on youtube. Do you happen to remember the person who posted it by chance? I swear, trying to find a little bit about these foreign dubs is pretty tough, distinguishing from fandubs and whatnot. :P

Ah, I had forgot that Croatian was almost identical to Serbian. I thought Zmajeva Kugla was dubbed in pure Serbian and not a Croatian dub. You just called Zmajeva Kugla "the old dub" of Croatian. :P I found a clip of this dub and yeah, it is new and far better than the old dub.

I never knew there was a Serbian dub. I think I heard someone say on these fora that the Ocean dub aired over there.

I can't believe how much the Croatian dub sucks!!! Why didn't they leave it in Japanese? I remember watching it  on novatv a long time ago. It stopped when Son Goku got on Namek. Anyone from Croatia remembers that?
What the Helheim?!

Oh, so there are two separate dubs for Serbian and Croatian but both are called "Zmajeva Kugla Z"? How confusing, since the languages are almost identical. I wonder why the Croatian dub has better voice acting than the Serbian dub, as they don't even attempt to match lips flaps at times (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8YUrjnrZDM).

Very interesting. This is not only the German instrumental version but EXACTLY the same cut of it. The version for the TV airing has this "loop" at the end of the song.
Furthermore: I hear "Cha-La Hey Cha-La" which is also like the German version and at the end of the song the lyrics mention "Dragon Ball" which is at the exact same spot as in the German lyrics. I bet the lyrics in general are pretty close to the German one. Can someone translate it into English?

I've just contacted someone from Croatia and they said that this is, in fact, a brand new dub. Croatian subbed epsiodes of Dragonball (not Z) aired on TV about 8 years ago, and that was it. So how about that, a brand new dub of a show that is over 20 years old. Pretty impressive!

No, not exactly the same. There're different channels of the same large channel group:

I wonder if it's based on the (horrible) German dub.

If this is indeed based directly on the German dub, then WE GOTTA POWER will be dubbed, but Zenkai Power is missing (the German dub just has a short Head Cha-La instrumental for the credits.) I'm not sure about the second ending since I never saw any Buu saga episodes while in Germany.

No, it wasn't used for the TV airing. It's only available on the 2nd German DBZ music CD.
