Favourite arcs

Sorry if there's already been a thread like this, but I couldn't find it. What are your favourite arcs, and how do you rank them? I'll start off, and add explanations later.

I'm not exactly sure the difference between "arc" and "saga" but here goes...

1. Namek/Freeza (by far)
2. Piccolo/Piccolo Junior (because of Popo's training)
3. 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai
4. Fortuneteller Baba
5. Red Ribbon Army
6. 21st Tenkaichi Budokai
7. Saiyan
8. Androids/Cell
9. Boo

The first 2 will always be my top 2. The rest could change order depending on my mood

For me, it's exactly the way the series goes. The best was the first, and the worst was the last. Garlic Junior however, being a filler arc, ranks in between the Saiyan Arc, and the Namek arc.

I couldn't put the others into any sort of ordered list if I tried. But I can say for certain that my overall favorite arc of the series is Majin Boo. It felt to me like the perfect fusion (hahaha) of early Dragon Ball's goofiness combined with the high-octane HARDCORE of the 'DBZ' era.

Rating all the arcs in order would be difficult for me, so I'll take the Kaboom approach. I enjoyed the Tenkaichi Budokai arcs the most, because I think it had some of the best quality fights in the entire series. The fights were never too long and I always liked the variety showcased in them.

Man, trying to make a list would make my head explode!

I love all the Dragon Ball anime arcs so I would not be able to choose a favourite of all time, at the moment I'd have to say the King Piccolo Arc..It has this awesome post-apocalyptic feel to it.

For Z, I think the Cell arc would have to be it for me. All the way from Trunks killing Freeza to Cell's defeat, I fucking love it. The Saiyan Arc (especially those episodes of Gohan in the wild) and Freeza arc are also brilliant. I love all the filler episodes in between sagas too, except maybe Goku and Piccolo driving

As far as I'm concerned it doesn't get any better than Piccolo Daimao and the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai. After that, probably Cell and maybe Boo.

I have to agree, I really think the Daimaô-era, from as early on as the twenty-second Tenka'ichi through the twenty-third, is where it is at. The twenty-second and Daimaô arcs flowed together really well, probably the first time in the series an arc transition was so well done. Using Kuririn's death as a simultaneous cliffhanger and springboard was brilliant on Toriyama's part, as possibly unintentional as it was. The drama and the fights are perfectly gauged for the ultimate pay off, too.

My favorite arc would be the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai; Awesome fights, everyone got a piece of the action, and the final fight was the best ever in the whole Dragonball in my opinion.

The Namek Arc would be a close second, with some really awesome fights just up until Freeza's death. It's the only place in the story where Goku is the only one being a Super Saiya-jin, even presumably the one of legend. After that arc, the Super Saiya-jin became sort of inflated and all we could see was golden hair...
