FUNimation's old dragonballz.com

Post by MCDaveG » Wed Aug 24, 2011 6:09 am

I want to ask, is there a slight possibilty that anyone here has some screencaps or ''rarely'' a backup of old dragonballz.com?
That page really was cool.
I remember those flash animations of characters going on screen (I think it was Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Freeza, Cell and Buu) and saying something.
I also remember the Enter screen with the ''Budokai 1 cover'' art with other warriors behind Goku and dragon balls goin' in circle around them.

A web archive site might have several copies if you gogle web archive then select the year that you remember the site from and type the site.
Example www.dragonballz.com year 2003 Then you can see a list of dates that they made a backup of the site that year.
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force

If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure :)

If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me :)

Cool!! Thank you guys. I meant that one with the Super Saiyans and better art, but unfortunately, it wasn't captured properly, so the flash characters aren't working like in the version Pokewhiz posted :(

I wonder if anyone here is old enough to remember the infamous 'Goku condoms...'

I have all those Flash cards. I think that some of them were used on the website as pop up characters.

"WHAT'S A MATTER, PUNK? SLOW CONNECTION?"
I love old school interwebs.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Ah, this thread brings back a lot of really great memories. I used to go on the website everyday just to look at all of the pictures and listen to all of the quotes. I got in trouble once way back in third grade for using one of the clasroom computers to search the website lol.

I also remember watching the aforementioned commercial on all of my DBZ vhs tapes. I used to go on the computer and drool at all of the items in the Z-store that I wasn't lucky enough to get. Now that I'm older and have money I wish I could go back in time and go on a crazy Z-store shopping binge. Sigh, just another bullet added to the long list of reasons why I hope the time machine will be invented in my lifetime.

I remember the Goku condoms thing being a test page before the actual re-launch in 2000.

When planetnamek.com caught wind of it, it spread like wildfire.

I don't remember the condoms thing, but I do remember going to the website(before the old flash one posted) and seeing this meager little store with a handful of action figures...that were ALWAYS sold out.

It was weird to see it go from that to seeing a larger DBZ section in the toy stores than Star Wars, only a year or two later.

Ahhh, back in the day when your joe-smoe DBZ fan didn't know what SSJ was.

I have some of that stuff posted in the video. Had some of those spiral notebooks. I have a couple action figures in their original boxes in a closet. I also have that Goku\Ginyu chroma cell signed by a few people. I think they sent those to us as a gift at one point.

Re: Goku Condoms, it was pretty much what Castor said. Someone was poking around the website and found a bunch of unused and unlinked test pages. One of them had a product page and a test listing on it was 'Goku Condoms,' including a funny description and a price I think.

I remember that website. I don't know if I'm thinking of that one, or another one, but I seem to recall FUNimation calling Vegeta Goku's 'cousin' in a character profile. That threw me off a bit since I was just getting into and learning about the show at the time. I asked my close friends and go-to DBZ 'experts' (I think they'd read some websites or seen a few fansub tapes - experts!) if Vegeta really was Goku's cousin. They assured me that he was not.
