My sister and I were watching clips of bad dub lines a couple days ago. We had never watched the show together like that in over 10 years, so it was a rich experience going from clip to clip hearing bad voice acting and lines. In fact, hearing the voices for Kuririn and the like makes me amazed when I heard people enjoying the Funi dub and stuff. Kuririn sounds like a ninja turtle, and his lines aren't close to the same level of corniness. "It's on a whole 'nother plateau"! if I used his words.

Anyway, there are too many to list and there are enough threads on this to satisfy. You guys have at it, though, because I love reading these.

One that devastated me was Tenshinhan's "This three-eyed cowboy's going for one last ride!" or something during the Nappa fight. That hurt so bad and left a pile of poo sitting on every respect Tenshinhan had as a character to me. Awful, awful out-of-character line to the max... and that voice was unbearable. Thankfully I can bask in the Japanese version and disregard the dub.

I also played the Trunks vs Cold for my sister, who's a massive Future Trunks fan, and she was hugely disappointed. 1) The voice made him sound like a douchebag kid and 2) "So you wanna see my sword, huh?" made her leave the room when she had been laughing at the previously bad dub lines. Not to mention Cold's ridiculous accent in the scene.

FUNimation DBZ Freeza: "What ever turns you on...."

Did they pick this line out of a porn film or what?

If Linda Young had a precious young girl's voice in Freeza's body that would've sort of turned me on, but it didn't, because her voice is annoying as hell, damn Granny Freeza! :|

I think the worst ever was when Freeza was (originally) telling Vegeta about how he was the one that destroyed his home planet. In the dub however, Freeza told Vegeta he needed a countdown to transform. Vegeta then counted backwards from 10. WHAT THE WHAT?!

YOU ARE TEARING ME APART FREEZA!!
I was gonna offer some terrible season 3 dialogue, but if we can talk about AB Group dubs, and Malaysian dubs... there's just too many bad lines, they're all on the same level of terri-bad.
Though this one always makes me laugh.

Oh my, I forgot about the countdown. Is that in the Funi dub to this very day? On Season 3 and Dbox 2? I guess I could just check, but... XD

Gotta wonder; what were they thinking? Did they think the tension would give kids heart attacks, or that they'd get bored of waiting without a... 'funny' bit of off-screen dialogue?

Pretty much anything Freeza said in Season 3 of the dub.

Especially, "Pop goes the weasel!"
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

No, that was pretty bad and a bastardization of his character. Best dub line might be "People popcorn!", or Gokuu's plea to Vegeta when he's trying to get him to merge using Potara.

Goku to Freeza: "I am the hope of the universe. I am the answer to all living things crying out for peace. I am protector of the innocent, I am the light in the darkness, I am truth."

Goku: "I'll tell Gohan how much you really miss him when I see him"
Videl: "You won't, I know. Gohan is still alive, I'm sure of it. I just feel him beating in my heart."

Wow, I gotta say we don't have ones that bad in Spanish... not at least one that jumped at me.

At the start of DB they really had problems censoring several stuff so they made up lines to go with the cut versions. I believe that when Roshi brings Bulma some Tenkaichi merchandising and she asks if it's free (he wanted to grope her of course), but in the Spanish dub he tells her "What? That's not free. It was $50 dollars!" *PUNCH*
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"

*ahem* http://youtube.com/watch?v=zaLoTA6yICc
And in episode 67 or 68, Jheese originally said, "let's show this bloke what the Ginyu Force is all about" or something, but in the orange brick redub he goes, "I think it's time to throw some pain on the Barbie!"
Also one that I just thought of by Gohan in the Garlic Jr. arc, "that's the worst Humphrey Bogart imitation I've ever heard, Krillin!"

Why would anyone make a great show bad on purpose? It's one thing to make your own crap but to degrade something great to meet your incredibly low standards? What was with dubs back then? Was their number one quota to disregard the translated script as a basis for their own and make up their own crap be it censorship related or not?

We really need to make a collection of all of these lines and put them into one video. It'd be awesome, and bad for my poor, little ears.
