Wonder how many people will complain about no Bruce F productions.

I still see this on Reddit and YouTube a lot. People are assuming that Bruce Faulconer or Mark Menza are doing the score for the dubbed version of the movie.

Disney did not make The Wind Rises. It was done by Studio Ghibli, just like all of Miyazaki's films. All Disney does with his films is handle the English dubbing and releases.

Disney has distributed all of Studio Ghibli's work (as well as pre-Ghibli productions by Hayao Miyazaki, like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind) for a while now, even in Japan. It's not exactly a surprise for them to show up in the credits. That said, they did not "make" the film. The company is deliberately hands-off with the studio and makes no creative demands or restrictions. Miyazaki himself would never allow it, and John Lasseter is also a huge fan and wouldn't allow it for the international release either.

Do you guys reckon Jason Douglas and Ian Sinclair will reprise their roles as Beerus and Whis from BoZ? Or will FUNi do a complete recast? I liked them both for the role.

You can't really blame people for wanting something to sound and feel the way it did in the past in the version of the show they loved. Not everyone is so deeply involved in the Dragonball online fandom to know about the issues regarding the replacement scores.

I'm sure there's a lot of fans in Japan who sorely missed Kikuchi in Battle of Gods, too.

If I'm wrong about this, somebody correct me, but I don't believe they've announced details about the theatrical screenings yet other than what days of the year they'll take place. So with that in mind, if BoG is like any of the other theatrical releases that FUNimation put out, then I suspect what will happen is that the dubbed version will be screened more times throughout the day (since, as you pointed out, that's what will appeal to more people), but that they will still have a few time slots set aside for viewing the subbed version. That's what FUNimation has historically done with their theatrical releases, anyway.

I'm honestly kind of wondering about this myself, what with the 'cast announcement coming soon' thing in the news release. Assuming they don't re-cast them, or anyone that we've yet to see in Kai via the Buu arc, there's really only like...Oracle Fish...left to cast, barring walla.

But I could be reading too much into those words anyway, and the 'announcement' could just be the same general list of actors we knew were coming back anyway.

I found Whis's voice to be quite fitting and would be fine if they kept Ian Sinclair. I wouldn't mind hearing Troy Baker do Beerus though, provided he goes with his "Greedling" voice.

I'm away for just half a week and all of a sudden an announcement like this happens.
I'm really excited about this! I don't really care for the theatrical run, but getting this, and hopefully the Jump Special, on DVD with an an English dub would be nice!

I'm still hoping it'll be the extended version we get, and that Chuck Huber will still do Pilaf.

...*facepalm* I completely forgot about Pilaf and crew! I guess that could be another area where there might be some new casting, maybe...Chris Cason is still around and I dunno why he couldn't still be Shu, but I don't think the lady who was Mai in Dragon Ball has ever done anything else, or at least if she has, she hasn't in years now. And as for Pilaf, I do hope they keep Huber, but there has been a lot of talk about how much Greg Ayres sounds like Chiba's take on the character in a way...so that would be fitting too.

If it's going to be released in theaters then I guess we will get a MMPA rating. It will end up being rated PG and you have some of the American Funi dub DBZ fanboys that will be mad because it's not dark and gritty.

I don't see why the actors who have been in Kai or the recent games wouldn't reprise their roles; all of this goes through OkraTron5000.

The only characters we don't know 100% which actor will be playing them are... Oracle Fish, Marron, Mai, and Shu. And I guess that cop character, since she was stunt casted.

I wonder how Funi will handle the "Don't you have a brother, Vegeta?" line. Will they do a simple line change, or will they actually dub and release the JSAT Special? It'd be especially awesome if they played it before the movie started in theaters.
