I wonder if these will see an English release?

Well, only Daizenshuu 1 got an English release from Viz, and that was because it was mainly an art book with minimal text, so...

True, but with Viz announcing the new Vizbig release and this movie getting an international release, perhaps the new wave of hype will be enough for Viz to see these guidebooks as a worthwhile investment?

Ah, they could take out two birds with one stone here.

That person would have to have one hell of a variable strength if they can lose to Monster Zarbon, then force Freeza to transform, and also kill Paikuhan!

It might just be crazy enough to work.

For all we know, Paikuhan could've been weak as shit when he died and only got this strong by training in the afterlife.

Shueisha's official listing for the "Story & World Guide" says it will be a size B5 book, meaning it'll be the same size as the Daizenshuu. I'm personally super excited to see it, because I was starting to get tired of all these smaller guide books.

Thank you so much for the listing! That isbn is super-helpful as I'm considering buying this depending on what the content turns out to be. Also hoping there's some new Toriyama-drawn artwork for the cover.

I forgot about any new Toriyama artwork! I imagine there will be for the front cover, I don't see why not!

I'm sure we can count on one of our Japanese speaking staff members to make us privy to any new info, assuming there is any.

If the cover art will be from Toriyama, I hope he uses this style:
Image
Not that comical, simple style or that nothing in common style used in the kanzenban covers
Also the same colouring, not the style of colouring used in Kanzenban

I just realized Goku's gi in that image with Mr. Satan, Goku has the "GO" kanji on it, while in the actual Buu arc he has no kanji on his gi at all. Makes me wonder if it's just a preference of Toriyama's and that's why he's got his "GO" kanji back in BOG too.

I'm not seeing a huge difference between the Kanzenban covers and the earthquake relief drawing. I think people get this idea that Toriyama's art has drastically changed because the majority of the new pieces we see are,

A) fully colored, and
B) Colored digitally

Taking into consideration the manga rarely had the first one and none of the second, I don't feel his "style" has become as foreign as I often hear.

Then you aren't really paying attention to his line work. His art is returning back to it's more gag based roots, with rounder lines and smaller body proportions (even more exaggerated and more noticeable in gag stories, such as the Kochikame crossover). If I had to describe it, I'd say it kind of looks like the resulting hybrid of combining the styles from the first chapter of the DB manga with the last. Needless to say though, his Dragon Ball art these days doesn't actually resemble anything we had during the serialization period.

Those certainly do look nice, but they're not Toriyama's handiwork. I guess what you'd be after is a Nakatsuru/Yamamuro art book, ala The Golden Warrior.

Oh man, I hope we get new page spreads from Yamamuro like last time. Those were gorgeous!
