Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ: "Rock the Dragon" Set

Not sure if this actually means Z or Kai, though I would admit it'd be interesting if it was indeed the latter.
Regardless, this does make me wonder if it is original Z, why they are releasing it now.

Re: Dragonball Z Ocean Dub DVD release incoming?
I think it would be awesome to get an uncut release in really good quality of the ocean dub I have all 53 episodes and the 3 movies on DVD. but I wouldn't mind seeing a better quality release.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

It'll be interesting to see if they'll just port all the stuff from the Pioneer volumes which only had a portion of the recaps/previews, one title card for episodes 1-4 and "Stay tuned for scenes...." taken out in nearly all episodes, or they'll completely redo it and include all of it like the Madman version does.

Would Funimation be behind this release though? and if they weren't how could my DVD/Blu-ray player play hem? but I'm getting ahead of myself we'll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.

The listing says that it's been "re-dubbed" but it talks of the original broadcast. It'll be nice when we get an official announcement.

... Is this possibly that "really cool" release FUNimation's been hinting at?
I just bought the old Saiyan Saga DVDs. If this is real, and these have better encoding (Ultimate Uncut level quality, which was a noticeable step up from the Pioneer singles), then I'll definitely get this.

This is weird, really weird.
I wonder if we'll end up seeing episodes 30-53, The Tree of Might as well as the first 13 episodes if this turns out to be real

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
...Huh.
I'm not sure if I find this really cool, or pointless, honestly.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd be thrilled to see this happen for the people that do want it, and it'd just be a really cool side release to see happen...but I'm not sure I'd really be interested in buying it myself. I already want to finish upgrading to the Dragon Boxes from the Season Sets, do I really NEED this release as well?
That said, I could see myself getting a re-release of the first three movies in Ocean dub form, since that's pretty much where my Ocean related DBZ nostalgia lands.

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
So they stopped making something new and now release their old edited stuff again instead of Dboxes? No way.
I can imagine them canceling this release and fucking up the franchise yet again.

The way it's worded, it sounds like FUNimation got Ocean to redub DBZ...kei17 wrote:So they stopped making something new and now release their old edited stuff again instead of Dboxes? No way.
EDIT: Wait, then it says Original Broadcast..
I.. Don't understand...
Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
I'm hoping this is the old version and not a re-dub it's got to be Z not Kai, If it had the old Cartoon Network Logo that would be awesome but it won't.
Still it's an import for me if Amazon.com carry it.

Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish

it says "Original Broadcast" but it also says "redubbed" in the description. It's really strange.ChibiGoku wrote:The way it's worded, it sounds like FUNimation got Ocean to redub DBZ...kei17 wrote:So they stopped making something new and now release their old edited stuff again instead of Dboxes? Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
Yeah, nothing makes sense here. The cover art says "the original broadcast" and Rock the Dragon, but it's redubbed according to the description.. Is it the old Shuki Levy score version with redubbed lines or what?ChibiGoku wrote:The way it's worded, it sounds like FUNimation got Ocean to redub DBZ...

Edit: IIRC, according to attitudefan, Brian Drummond talked about redubbing some lines of old stuff or something like that. Is this what he was referring to?

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ in July
Ocean Dub isn't complete, i.e, they didn't dub all sagas so this would be an inconsistent release, unless they're dubbing the unfinished work to cover those sagas.
Hopefully this is true because I'd buy it (from Saiyan to Freeza's saga).
