Normal edition 440 yen, limited edition 907 yen.

No information about limited edition contents.
Plus tax though, so ¥475 and ¥980, respectively (the latter being the same price as the kanzenban).

The Full Color Comics will also be rising to ¥648 (from ¥630) because of the consumption tax increase.

Not even sure pre-orders are up yet for it. But if anyone can provide a link that'd be greatly appreciated. :) Anyways for about 10 dollars I'd be down for the limited edition, bring it on!

Pre-orders haven't gone up anywhere yet, and this is likely why (multiple SKUs). Once the stuff is "officially" announced on this magazine's actual release date (later this week), we might see things start popping up.

Hi everyone.

Is there any way to purchase this in English? If not in "manga" form, then online digitally?

Thanks.

Not anymore. You could week-by-week as Viz was releasing it, and for a while via back-issues, but they do not extend their back-issues that far into the past to grab the particular 2013 issues which had Jaco.

It's only a matter of time before Viz announces a collected release themselves, though (either print and/or digital). I mean, it's not like they were going to be able to put it out ahead of Japan!

I guess the Super Elite edition will have the Gine extra chapter, more extras like interviews, and a more fancy appearance.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Yay! How... bland? I wasn't really expecting Toriyama to draw a cover illustration specially for the book, but... eh. At this rate, his author portrait will probably be the same image of Tori-Bot in Goku's dōgi with a pen reading "2013" that we've seen for the past year-and-a-half.
(Note also how the cover design matches up with the original Dragon Ball tankōbon dust jackets, but not the newer ones.)

As for the three items in the "Super Elite Version"... hmm. Would it be odd to say the "Super Elite Badge" actually intrigues me? I suppose the Jaco key holder would also be useful, but I have to imagine the "Augmented Reality Postcard" is rather underwhelming unless you have a device outfitted with the necessary software.

CALLED IT!

Hoooo yeah, what a boring cover. Oh well, the limited edition versions sound neat, but it would be nice if the book itself was a little fancier.

I do like what Julian mentioned about it matching the old DB designs. That's cool!

I have mixed feelings about the Jaco tankobon. On the positive side of things I do take pleasure in the style hearkening back to the old school tankobon releases. But at the same time the cover art is perhaps a bit too bland for my liking. I would have preferred to see some kind of story being told perhaps, or at least more characters on the cover of the book.

Edit: Forgot to add, the extras also do a decent job of underwhelming me...but it won't stop me from purchasing it unfortunately.

I'm starting to think Gine's meat distribution center is more giant Amazon distribution center than butchery. Like a huge, cold--because of the meat--warehouse where you need a map and a vehicle just to get around.

Guess I'll find out in April.

That makes me wonder if it will have also a drawing on the spine that would fit the image formed by the spines of the tankōbon... I can imagine Jaco standing before Shenron (trying to stop him or whatever). It would be great :)

I'm starting to wonder how she ended up there in the first place. What if she's the one that cooked for them after battle? That would go along with this "gentle" image Toriyama is giving her. It would give her experience of what meat works for what dish... also might be the sole reason they kept her around in their team if she didn't fought well. After all, the best way to get to a Saiyan's heart is through their stomach, right? /theory

Still don't see this on CD Japan or YesAsia, but it's up on Shueisha's BOOK NAVI site, with links to some Japanese online retailers like Amazon.co.jp But from what I've heard it's best to just wait until it pops up somewhere like CD Japan that's more internationally friendly?

Slightly off-topic, but I guess I'm not sure if it's ok to start a whole new thread about this: Poking around Shueisha's site I also see this http://books.shueisha.co.jp/CGI/search/ ... 4-7&mode=1 Is this a collection of Toriyama and Katsura's collaborations? Anybody have more info on this?

EDIT: Toriyama x Katsura book also coming out April 4! Happy Birthday Toriyama
