Hey guys, maybe we shouldn't do that. We should be mature about this and not look like spoiled kids not getting their way.ultimateemail5000 wrote:Go to their facebook and click on Report a Problem, and then write the reason being DBZ in 16:9.G1GACANN0N wrote:Time to spam their Facebook page.

Well if this is all true, time to wait for Dragon Box Blu-Ray edition (assuming that ever sees the light of day). In the meantime I'll just stick with episodes from Daisuki, as the original DBoxes can be expensive.

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray
Yay... Didn't take long for FUNimation to out the one major flaw of this release. Some companies put in easter eggs. FUNimation puts on a signature stamp of suck, so now they'll be justified in continuing to milk the property until maybe next time, we swear, guys, we'll get it right!
We're gonna party like it's 2007 indeed. And, if I recall, my favorite 2007 party involved not supporting FUNimation's incredibly stupid, condescending, and insulting decisions by not financially supporting their releases. And I am more than happy to put that party hat back on. You fucking morons. Learn how video is supposed to work and release the DB Dragon Boxes, otherwise you'll never see another penny from me. I hope this release gets what it deserves, which is failure, but seeing how the Orange Bricks sold like hotcakes, I guess it's time for me to get ready to see my faith in humanity fall another few notches.

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray
Wow, holy shit. I don't have a Blu-ray player currently, but I was looking forward to them releasing their raw masters in 4x3 in HD so one day I could get these.
Fuck that now.
I'll bet it's the piss poor Orange Brick masters as well too. Seasons 1 and 2 will look ATROCIOUS in HD, 3-5 will be tolerable, but at least 6-9 should look decent- maybe really good minus the retarded cropping. I may as well watch my Orange Bricks on an HDTV (and would still have to if I wanted the "broadcast dub")
What happened to the FUNimation that released the Dragon Boxes? All the apologies for cropping Z and not cropping DB, GT and Kai as a result? Wow. I hope these flop and get canceled as well to send FUNimation the message that the OBs weren't successful due to their cropping.

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray
Awww man......I really, really, really, really, really, really hope this was a mistake, like they meant to write "4:3" instead of "16:9," and someone is scrambling to correct it right now. Why, after all this time and all this negative feedback, would they go back to that aspect ratio? Ugh.....
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray
Somehow with the price point I doubt it. The pricing is about in line with what the bricks were the first time around, right?Metalwario64 wrote:

Also... the "pan and scan" is intriguing. Did they actually have a team do selective cropping this time around? To be honest, it looked better in Kai than I expected. And when you're actually getting extra footage on the side, it might not be so bad.
Eh, whatever. I probably wasn't going to get it anyway.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray
FU-Niiii, you got some 'splaining to doooo!
IF, and this is a VERY big "if," they've somehow gone through and actually selectively cropped each and every shot to prevent loss of important picture, or something like that... then these MIGHT be acceptable. But that's extremely unlikely. Right now, I don't have high hopes for this release.

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray
So I just lost out on an eBay auction for all Dragon Ball Z movies on Blu-ray (minus History of Trunks/Bardock) for $74 USD + $14 USD (shipping to Canada). I bid $80 but I was a second too late and the auction ended
Six Blu-rays for less than $16 each all in, damn what a steal. If I order from Amazon.com it's gonna cost over $200 after shipping for all 7 Blu-rays of the DBZ movies (like $30 each).

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray
The general fan base is to blame. Funimation went out of their way to ask fans what aspect ratio they wanted and apparently they got their answer. So far that post on twitter is the only source of this info so who knows maybe they're wrong.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Awww man......I really, really, really, really, really, really hope this was a mistake, like they meant to write "4:3" instead of "16:9," and someone is scrambling to correct it right now. Is this guy a rep for them? I don't know the twitter account. Remember, one of their reps said the green bricks were going to be 16:9 too.

I'm hoping that cropping is the only thing they do.

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray
I knew something was up when they included 16:9 as an option on their Blu-Ray survey.
I really hope it's a mistake, I still don't own the full series once.

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-Ray
fucking hell. They will NEVER learn, will they?
I think we need to spam their Facebook/Twitter with complaints. There was a time where this wasn't effective (2007!), but I think we might actually be able to change their minds if we make enough noise.
If not... I obviously won't be supporting this release.
