I definitely don't despise it.
Pretty much how I feel. I was taken aback at first, no lie, but I'm not losing my mind and damning the film over it.

It's interesting. I want to know the context behind it. Toriyama seems to really like these garish colours. First magenta Goku and now golden Freeza. I wonder where he's going with it.
It's irony, it has to be. "Freeza was defeated by a gold guy, now he is the gold guy!"

Imgur mirrors, all at larger sizes than what has been posted in this thread already.

Dayspring wrote:Given the "I'm a prodigy! I've never trained once in my life, so it will only take me four months of going balls out to become stronger than Buu!" [extreme paraphrase] lines of the manga, it kind of makes sense for his new form to be to his fourth form as SSJ is to Goku. On top of it making sense that he'd be able to copy the SSJ transformation, even thematically, it makes sense for him to parallel SSJ. Also, 50x increase in strength?

As pointed out in another thread, it took Piccolo 3 years to increase his Battle Power by over 150,000,000. Freeza being the hyper-mutant prodigy that he is, it becomes realistic that he'd be able to make the same gains in four months (or 1/9th the amount of time), if not more (all he has to do is train at the same intensity under 10g for 3.6 months to match Piccolo's boost). Then double his strength for his second form, double it again for his third and multiply that by 60 for his final form. Assuming "Supa Saiya-jin Furiiza" works the same as SSJ, then you multiply that final product by 50.

In short, it's seriously becoming realistic that he'd catch up to the others in four months only.
Good enough for me.

Toriyama made Goku's God hair plain red, just like his eyes. It's the anime staff that made it magenta.

I hadn't thought about this being Freeza's races Super Saiyan, good catch!

Toyotaro has an excellent artstyle, nobody's denying that, but story-wise, we haven't seen what he can do recently when he's serious.

In your opinion. In mine, and in a lot of people's, Episode of Bardock was terrible.

And since when majority is such a thing? It continues to be your opinion. Yes, Ooishi Naho is the best choice to continue, but I am also giving a chance to Toyotaro, both of them working together Dragon Ball will surely be better used.

The only way this transformation works for me is if there are several very funny scenes around that notion.

And we don't know how he acquired that new form right now.
So if this gold form is real, what if he actually tried to mimic the Super Saiyan power that once defeated him (or rather, TWICE defeated him), with his army engineering what it takes to offer him that golden transformation?

That reminds me of Toriyama's chapter title, mentionning "the Super Saiyan or the Super Freezer".

I'd actually prefer if Toyotato takes over instead of Naho. I know you won't like to hear this ( :P ) but the less they ruin Bardock's character, the better.

I'm not trying to imply that you hate the franchise if you're critical of it. It's just that complaining about the minutia of the plot details of a Dragon Ball story implies, to me at least, the expectation that meticulous care would actually be taken to make sure those were thoroughly thought through and planned and such. I mean, if someone wouldn't settle for anything less than a perfectly crafted and airtight story, I'd be surprised to find them on a Dragon Ball forum. Given the nature of the manga and its flaws that it has in spades, when it comes to the minutia of the plot details, I'm simply puzzled as to where the expectation for this even arises. I can empathize with the idea that possibly more care would be put in here since it's a movie, and has the plot planned out from beginning to end, and such. But that still doesn't seem like something reasonable to expect from Toriyama, especially nowadays.

Sloppy storytelling is a norm in Dragon Ball? Check.
Toriyama in general doesn't put much care into the greater minutia? Check.
Toriyama is incredibly forgetful? Check.
Toriyama is incredibly arbitrary? Check.

These facts all taken together don't, in any reality, give me high expectations for him caring about the minutia of the plot details. Due to the lack of high expectations, I'm not experiencing any disdain or disappointment in or toward the resulting lack of attention to all of the details, and I'm more than willing to excuse them. And when I want to turn my brain on, I can accept the idea of "hey, we don't understand every single detail of how the Dragon Ball universe works", and apply ad hoc assumptions with occam's razor as a guide to make things make sense, which is no different from what people do for the manga's unexplained head-scratchers.

In other words, when people start complaining about the minutia of the plot details here, my reaction is simply "It's Dragon Ball written by Akira Toriyama, what the hell did you expect?"
dbzfan7 wrote:Well....if that's real. It looks really stupid. Not surprised considering God looked pretty stupid too. The aura in God was cool though, so at least his aura could look cool if this was real. Guess you could say Coolers transformation....was Cooler...
He actually reminds me a lot of Cooler's initial form with that purple.
The thing with story telling and plot holes is that, the more satisfying the story and elements, the less you care about plot holes. However nothing is really satisfying me that much, so issues stick out more and more. In the manga while there were issues, there's plenty of satisfying stuff to make you overlook them. That's what a good story does, make you suspend your disbelief of the plot holes, because it was entertaining enough. It's pretty hard to have a story without some holes. Right now FnF just seems like more GT. GT even had our other characters doing something like this in the Super 17 arc. Or it could turn out like Movie 3 where Goku had to take out the mooks cause everyone sucks.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Can we talk about the aura in this image:

It's very God-like.

Or it's Toei reusing their ugly fire aura from Battle of Gods.

I like the basic design but I'm not a fan of the darker limbs. Makes him look like he's wearing a goofy wrestling costume.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Freeza is computer-generated there, too. Meaning the final battle will once again feature an ungodly amount of CG because this film is so irresponsibly rushed.
