Oh thank god, I read something about Tadayoshi Yamamuro and Norihiro Hayashida in "XXI Salón del manga de Barcelona", Spain... Something about a new upcoming movie confirmed. I glad it is just a rumour :)

I'm not sure if this has been covered before but I asked Manga UK if they're doing a special edition Blu-Ray for Resurrection F. They confirmed that they are doing one. It should be interesting to see what they include.

Reposting my opinion on the movie from the other 'F' thread we have.

While I prefer Battle of Gods to Revival of F, F is still a good movie. It's story isn't groundbreaking by any means, but Dragon Ball never had a groundbreaking story. It had great arcs though. Sure, F feels like Toriyama e-mailed Toei and was like, "Hey guys, I'm writing a script. I'm bringing back Freeza for funsies. Toriyama out." But that doesn't make it bad by any means. It has it's flaws, but so did everything Dragon Ball related. F is just a fun ride. You get to watch some characters shine again which is great to see, both Ayres and Nakao both kill it as Freeza, and we get a fun new blue haired form to go with it. Sure, not seeing how Vegeta got his god form isn't fun, but the rest is pretty okay. Dragon Ball isn't this super serious, super thought out story like One Piece, or... uh, JoJo is thought out, right? I don't follow much anime/manga. Basically, it's not this big 42 volume thought out story some people think it is. But even though it's not, it's still fun. Now we have new content from the creator that feels just like he would write it in his run on the manga, and I think that, while there are many glaring holes, it's not meant to be taken seriously and examined in every frame.

Take Jurassic World for example. There are claw marks on that wall and they think the Indominus Rex escaped. Well, there are holes with that if you think about it for more than a minute. If it escaped, people would have heard it because, you know, it's a dinosaur and it's super huge. They had that tracking device, they could have used that. But it's not a well thought out movie. It's meant to be big dumb fun. It accomplishes that. That's why Jurassic World was well received. It had holes, but it was still pretty okay. So consider F like that. It has holes, but other than that, it's still pretty okay. I mean, I personally think F is better than Jurassic World, but, that's just me.

In Jurassic World they did use the tracking device, that's how they found out it was still in the cage.

Yeah, they did. After they started freaking out and left and let Chris Pratt and that other dude go in the cage. They could have used it before they did that. There, problem solved. But for the sake of the movie, they couldn't do that.

Eh, it's true enough that it's 'for the sake of the movie', but at the same time, it's pretty clear that the people running the park in World aren't quite as swift as they think they are, a fact that Pratt's character pretty quickly realizes and points out to them almost constantly. So not really so much of a hole as it is 'man these brilliant scientists and wealthy investors are stupid.' At least, not more of a hole than how in the heck did that Rex eat those people on the boat and then end up back in the cargo hold to break out from, in The Lost World. :P

...Wait, this isn't a Jurassic Park forum? Uhh...um...okay, I got nothing. I still need to get around to watching the extras on both that DVD and the Resurrection 'F' one though.

DVD copy came in today. After watching it, my overall stance is that while Battle of Gods was a superior movie in terms of originality and characterization, Resurrection F beats the hell out of it as far as production values and animation quality go. Like, it's not even close.

Still don't like the ending though. It seemed pretty pointless and anticlimactic, and only existed to cockblock Vegeta. I mean, I suppose it was meant to show Goku the perils of his leniency, but it could've been pulled off a lot better.

I don't know if it's been said already, but the movie is coming out in France on November 20th, it's published by Kaze and we pretty much have all the info right now thanks to the publisher's official website.

http://anime.kaze.fr/produit/la_resurre ... _ball_z_br

It includes the 3D Blu-ray and the 2D Blu-ray in one single pack (as well as 3 cards), and the French name is La résurrection de 'F' (meaning "The resurrection of F" or "F's revival", keeping in line with the usual translations).

Note that this time, a French title was created whereas Battle of Gods was kept as such. It is unknown how the French title will appear in the movie though, since they can either alter the special title effect of the movie, or leave the Japanese or American title effect and just add a subtitle giving the French title. We'll see in due time.

The caracteristics show that as a bonus, there is documentary on the French cast with a duration of 24 minutes. Battle of Gods also included a documentary on the French cast, which lasted 17 minutes, indicating that the documentary for Resurrection 'F' is apparently a new one.

By your words, it seems there wasn't a French theatrical release of Resurrection F this time either? Battle of Gods didn't receive one as far as I know, and I'm surprised considering that France had theatrical releases of several Dragon Ball Z films from the 90's (at least I know Fusion and The Attack of the Dragon did).

The good thing is that you are getting the home release way before we'll be getting it, since the film just hit cinemas in Spain this weekend (no box office info yet, although I have the feeling it's doing better than Battle of Gods did). I can tell you in our case we have a localized title appearing on the cinema posters and depending on the region/language ("La Resurrección de F" in Castilian Spanish, "La Resurrecció de F" in Catalan and "F Berpiztua" in Basque) but the movie itself features the Japanese title and I suppose they'll put the American title in the cover of the future home release because we have different languages (Valencian has chances of being in too, despite missing the theatrical release) and it would be unfair to appoint one of them on the cover, even if it's the Castilian Spanish one.

No, there wasn't a true, national theatrical release for Resurrection 'F', only a limited one (although it exceeded expectations and was repeated several times more than originally planned).
Battle of Gods had no theatrical release at all, not even a limited one in any existing cinema.

And yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it was like your version: we can see that the French cover has the French title totally stylized to replace the original, but it's much easier to adapt a cover picture than to adapt a whole special effect, moving shot to display the title in the movie itself.
So we'll see, but for now, I'm gonna guess that we'll see the Japanese or American title effect, with just a subtitle appearing to show the French title.

danielsan_190196 wrote:Hey dude, is the spanish dub of the movie any good?
It depends on what you are specifically pointing out. The voice cast is essentially the classic Castilain Spanish one as it already happened with Battle of Gods, so all characters are getting their old 90's voice actors back or their most representative ones in case some of them got more than one voice actor back then (for example, Son Goku had several actors because of different circumstances but he's Jose Antonio Gavira, the one who did him in the Freeza arc, in most of the Cell arc and also in all the classic movies). The performance of each of them varies depending on the actor. For example, Vegeta's voice actor acting is flawless while Goku's is a love or hate one because of his peculiar voice register (although I think it suits perfectly the mostly innocent personality of Goku). And Freezer's voice actor has done it as great as he did it in the 90's even though this person is mainly a singer and no longer a regular voice actor like he used to be in the 90's (the same happens with Goku's voice actor, he's mainly a journalist now). But most of them are fine and they of course do it much better than they did on the 90's (some of them were already perfect in the 90's though).

The translation, on the other hand, something which has always been the most criticized point about the Castilian Spanish dub of the classic 90's series mostly due to AB Group's French script influence (the original and Z were the ones most affected, since the classic movies and GT were translated pretty fine overall since the Japanese scripts were used, only keeping some of the classic therminology for continuity purposes), is a faithful translation from the Japanese script/therminology except a couple of very minor leftovers from the classic therminology which are still kept (18 is still called "C18", Mutenroshi is still called "Mutenroi", Ten Shin Han is still called "Tensián", the senzus are still called "Judías mágicas" and that's about it). Techniques are all said under their Japanese names, including the Kamehameha of course, and most of the character names which were worst affected by AB Group's influence or some other dub's influence (Galician mostly) have been fixed. So no bad Internet memes should come of these movies any longer, if you know what I mean.

I see. When was that limited theatrical release and in how many cities was the film available? And was it done in the form of special day events I suppose? I would like to know in order to compare it with the Spain theatrical release.

In our version, the narrator mentions the localized title when the Japanese one is showed on picture. I don't think there was a subtitle appearing, or I didn't notice it at least.

^ Well, first there was 4 times at the Grand Rex (the largest cinema theater in Europe) in June and July, filling the room. It was originally only going to be aired once I think, but it got repeated due to unexpected success.

The Grand Rex in Paris then kept going by organizing a Marathon night on September 5th, airing Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' in one pack, which was like seeing a single 3-hours movie made of two parts.

Finally, on September 11th, the movie was aired in over 80 theaters across France.

Note that the French dub wasn't recorded at the time, as it's been recorded only for the Blu-ray release. So it was a subtitled version in those theaters.
Which is a clear sign of a limited theatrical release, when it isn't even deemed worth recording a local dub for theaters but only for the released disc.

Oh, I thought those limited theatrical releases had the French dub already. Then it's clearly a different thing compared to us, and so weird considering how big Dragon Ball has always been in France and also the fact that some of the classic 90 films did have theatrical releases (could you point out which ones where exactly premiered on cinemas? I'm only aware of Fusion and The Attack of the Dragon).

In our case, we didn't have theatrical releases of the classic 90's films (they were all released straight to VHS format, fortunately most of them adapted from Japanese versions without AB Group's influence) but both Battle of Gods and Resurrection F have had proper theatrical releases in Castilian Spanish, Catalan and Basque languages according to the different regions (Battle of Gods also has now a Valencian dub especifically done for the Extended Cut home release). And there hasn't been any "limited pre-premiering" of either film with the Japanese dub before the official cinema premieres (May 30th 2014 in the case of Battle of Gods, November 6th this year in the case of Resurrection F) and no possibility to watch it with the Japanese dub in any cinema during the official theatrical runs as far as I know.
