Question about different versions of Makafushigi Adventure

Post by clutchins » Mon Dec 15, 2014 5:36 pm

I'm using a CD copy of Makafushigi Adventure (TV Size) from the 1994 5-disc Great Complete Collection for a project of mine, but the version found on here doesn't include the gong sound at the beginning, much like the version of Cha-La-Head-Cha-La found here doesn't use that woosh sound effect at the title screen heard in the show.

My question is obvious at this point. Is there a CD-quality version of the real TV version of Makafushigi Adventure, complete with gong?

No, why would it? It's fiction. The strength of the characters is not possible to reach in reality.

I don't think so. That and the "whoosh" noise at the beginning of "HEAD-CHA-LA" are just sound effects that were added, and weren't part of the songs when they were originally recorded. I don't think any official CD releases of these songs feature the sound effects.

Perhaps you could rip the audio of the song from the official DVDs for your project?

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for clarifying it for me. I'll probably have to resort to using Dragon Box audio.

A much easier solution would be to just download the audio off of a youtube video, using a youtube to mp3 converter website.

Well that would result in a drop in quality, which is what I'm looking for. I have access to the R2J Dragon Boxes, but as we all know the quality of the old film reel audio used for the mono track on that release is crackly and artifacted to hell. I would rather use something like a CD version of the song, but I need to use the one heard in the episodes with the gong sound. Thanks for the suggestion, but I got what I needed to know from this thread.

The DBOX audio for the opening themes is pretty good quality to be fully honest (the actual episode audio however is another story) so I don't see why you couldn't in theory use that since it has everything you need already made and mixed for you, your only other option would be to find a SFX pack online that has the gong and woosh sounds and add them into the CD version manualy.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

What I would instead do is use the CD version and find yourself the closest approximation of the sound effect to lay over top that.
