What does Christmas have to do with fan quotes? It makes no sense.
It was a joke. I just meant Christmas as in something that is a very happy time/funny/good time. Pretty much anything with positive connotation. I guess my point was I find it strange that you dislike seeing TFS quotes around. People are just having fun with it and what is wrong with it? complaining about that just screams pessimism to me.

Anyway things that grind my gears:
-When people interchange the DBS manga and anime as if they are the same continuity.
-When a power scaling debate turns into a discussion about astronomy and you get things like "Freeza is star level and Cell is solar system level and a solar sytem has 3000x the mass of a star so Cell is 3000x stronger than Freeza."
-When the Dub of DBS made Vegeta break the 4th wall.
-When people complain about the treatment Gohan got in the Tournament of Power.
-The fact that I was so dumb to wait until now to watch the original Dragon Ball.(I just watched DBZ/DBGT/DBS before) Because it is so good

This forum is so over-dramatic that it's not even funny.

I mean I that is a rather hyperbolic way of looking at it but that is the gist of it

Or perhaps it's just not something someone finds funny. It is in no way like hating on Christmas.

No, they just get annoying because I find them unfunny after the first couple of times and they're everywhere. Plus, this is a thread to post things that grind your gears so I'm obliging to that.

"Dragon Ball Super and/or Dragon Ball in general is just liked nowadays because of nostalgia." Such a cop out statement.
A world without Dragon Ball is just meh.

Yup, loving something in general is met with "Lol, so overrated." On that note, it grinds my gears that people throw around the words "garbage" and "trash" so easily on the internet, e.g. "Lol Dragon Ball is trash". It's like, you may not enjoy it, but there's no way you can call it trash. The internet just has no middle ground, sadly.

This is true, especially when they give no reason or back up as to why they're calling it trash.

What really grinds my gears is how people claim something to be predictable.
Sure the universes coming back was predictable, but claiming that someone else winning the super dragon ball's is predictable is such a vague prediction. Pretty sure you wouldn't have expected 17 to be the winner. I could have been the only person to predict 17 won, but that shouldn't mean Dragon Ball in general is predictable. You literally watching a new story unfold before your eyes. Really hating how people throw words around all willy nilly tbh.

One of the most powerful threads in the fanworks section is about jacking off and no one is brave enough to talk about it but me. Some pedophiles going ham in that thread straight up posting Pan or something too... There is no law or justice in this land.

What, are you talking about the sexy fan art thread? The stuff that gets posted in there is usually harmless. Not really anything you need to be brave about.
However, the bit about Pan I absolutely agree with you on. I don't know if it grinds my gears, but it definitely makes me uncomfortable when people post underage characters in that thread, as the "they're aged up" excuse doesn't always work. Go elsewhere and you'll easily find actual porn with said underage characters, too... Like, it may be a cartoon, but they're still children. What the fuck.

No, I think there is a heavy nostalgia bias over this series that prevents people from reviewing it objectively, its gotten so bad people will attack you over if you dislike anything of Super claiming you're too "negative" and you're killing their hype as they go on about. Hype now can be converted into preemptive quality to a lot of people.
Zephyr wrote:The fandom's collective fetishizing of "moments" is also ridiculous to me. No, not everyone needs a fucking "shine" moment. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

NO.HE.DID.NOT.

He NEVER did anything impressive. He NEVER came of as strong like 17 or Freeza or any of the other impressive, god-level characters.

The namekians he beat were weak enough that Piccolo defeat them, which means they were not truly strong. I can guarantee you that the attack Piccolo used to finnish them of would have had no effect against a strong enemy like Kefla or Jiren or Toppo. So yeah, Namekians were crap.

Dyspo was weak as a napkin, all he had was speed, he never actually hurt anyone with his punches, he is not god-level in terms of strenght.

That robot that Gohan struggled against at first SEEMED strong when it was SEEMINGLY able to push back a combined beam from SSB Goku and SSB Vegeta, but then it was revealed that Goku and Vegeta weren't even giving it their all and were just stalling him while allowing Gohan to charge a full power attack, since Goku and Vegeta were trying to save their enegry for Jiren (and then of course they had to go full power anyway against friggin Anna-Lisa, or whatever that final form robots name was, since Gohan OF COURSE turned out to be to weak to actually eliminate the robot in his earlier stage like he was goddman supposed to do).

And when he "fought" Freeza it then turned out that Freeza and Gohan were playing the whole time, so while it did seem for a brief while that Gohan was proven strong enough to fight Golden Freeza, this turned out to be bullcrap. The show was so close to showing Gohan being strong, but then it screwed him over.

And against Toppo Gohan was able to land exactly one single attack, a full powered kamehameha, that was explicitly shown to have NO effect whatsoever. Toppo just smiled and said "so that's the extent of your power". Meanwhile Freeza's and 17's attacks actually had an effect on Toppo. If Gohan had landed just ONE effective atatck on Toppo it would have proven him to be of god-level power, but he never did.

Gohan fucking sucks

... Would ypu prefer wathching him struggle to go Super Saiyan because he prefers studying and reading books? While his situation right now isn't the best, don't forget that he was reduced to a miserable nerd not too long ago.

Well at least back then they AKNOWLEDGED that he sucked but that he could have been strong if he actually trained. But during the ToP arc the show acts as if Gohan is now as strong as we should expect him to be, that we should be happy with him the way he is now, and as if the stuff he does is impressive, when in fact it is made clear that he is NOT strong compared to many of his teammates, and that NOTHING he did during the ToP was impressive. I hated when he got eliminated and Goku was thinking all like "I'm proud of you Gohan". Goku should rightfully have been thinking "Man, I can't believe that THIS is the best he could do. My son fucking sucks".

Man, you remind me of my teachers, never satisfied even when there's clear improvement. Besides, nobody said that this was Gohan's definitive power and that he wasn't gonna grow any stronger. Hell, what did you expect? He just regained his powers a couple a couple of days/hours ago. He wasn't gonna become Blue level in that short amount of time.

But he had been training since the RoF arc. He should have regained his ultimate form long ago and then continued to get stronger. It's just that the dumbass writers somehow forgot that he had been training and instead made it so that he regained his ultimate state power just a few hour before the tournament.

But considering that Gohan did in fact train ever since the RoF arc I don't see any reason why he couldn't have gotten to SSB level when so many other characters did it so easily. Freeza did in in four months, and Future Trunks managed to INSTANTLY go from SS2 to having strenght equal to SSB just by getting angry. If he could do it, why not Gohan? Gohan is supposed to have more potential after all. He could have at least gotten that kind of boost during the tournament, but he didn't. He remained weak for the entire story arc.

Gohan is now the weakest adult saiyan in all of U7.

On another note, he was the only Saiyan participating in the ToP that DIDN'T gain a new transformation/power up (even that little twerp Cabba got SS2) despite also being the only saiyan explicitly saying before the tournament that he was aiming for a new form.

Gohan sucks so bad it's beyond belief. And at least before the ToP ark the series knew that he sucked and didn't pretend that he doesn't.

Well, I understand your frustration. There were tons of ways to make Gohan more relevant, but that's what we got. I'm at least happy he's not such a pathetic weakling anymore, and since we still don't know what happens next for now, my headcanon is that he kept getting stronger to protect his family. For the training part, you could explain it saying that his training after the RoF arc was not really that extreme, cause he still had to regain his fighting senses, AND he had to keep up with his job. Anyways, let's see what his role in the movie will be, hopefully he'll do something useful.

I honestly wish I could be as optimistic as you. Unfortunately I suspect that Gohan will NEVER be a strong character again. This ToP was his last chance, because the story demanded that so many characters participated. This was the only reason he got any spotlight at all. But now that the ToP is over the franchise will go back to having Gohan be a background character that AT BEST gets to sometimes fight some useless mooks along with other weak characters like Piccolo and Krillin.

I have been waiting ever since BoG came out for Gohan to not be weak and useless but never happens. Movies come out, episodes and story arcs come out, but Gohan continues to suck agan and agan and agan even when the series PRETENDS that he doesn't. Even when the series pretend that "hey look, Gohan is good again!" he never actually is. Everything he does is lame and he can't even reach SSB level power. He just sucks.

But I am happy that you remain optimistic, even if i can't.
