The dvd drive rarely forces you to choose a region - if you're forced to choose it's probably the DVD itself. Though even that is uncommon.

I would assume this is for newer drives, seeing as how I got mine around 2002 or somewhere around then and I have to use a program to get it to switch region codes to view import DVDs. :s

I'm trying to buy volume one from DVDGO, but I can't register. I wants to know my province, but I'm not sure what that means. Could anyone help?

On one hand this is interesting to see, however it is a shame in some respects as it is the Castellano version. If you are unfamiliar with Spanish and have no idea what I am talking about read below, if not don't. Here it is:
In the country of Spain there are several local varieties of Spanish that differ in the way that English is spoken in different parts of the US. The predominent ones are Gallego and Castellano. Gallego has absorbed many words of Portuguese origin and is radicaly different from Modern Spanish or Castellano. Castellano is the official language for Spain's traditional Spanish and is different from the Colonial Spanish spoken in Mexico and the Carribean islands. There is also the strong influence of native langauges that have influnced the Spanish of these regions. The main point being that you would have to know the local subtlies of the language to understand the DVDs

It might be for Spain-only... Province is like a state like Castilla-Leon, Catalunya, Andalucia...

There's many sites that cater only to a certain country...

I'm actually considering getting this. Just watching it in original japanese with the new Dragon Box clean-ups would be great.

If I weren't already buying the Japanese DVDs, I'd probably look into these DVDs. The extras look pretty nice. The one thing really not making me buy them is the fact that the Mexican dub isn't in there.

Would be nice if it was available on DVD, rather than scattered VHS tapes.

There's "Province (spanish residents)" and "Province (non spanish residents)". Also, it says it ships to the United States.

Ah! So it's NOT the same DragonBox footage. The remastered Spain footage is a bit sharper, whereas the Dragonbox footage is softer. Also, the Spain footage has a bit more color saturation.

It looks nice though, definetely clearer than the grain-tacular Funi masters.

Huh, looks like the Spanish version looks ever so slightly cropped on the right side. Insignificantly, yes, but it's still there.

For some reason the Spanish remastered edition looks like it has the same "remastered" footage that those blue and yellow bootlegs have.

Those blue and yellow DVDs are bootlegs of the actual Dragon Box sets. >_>

The Spanish set is nice..though it looks a little too sharp for my taste. That and some of the black outlining clashes with the color, causing that rainbowish color you see often on the FUNimation DVDs. :s

Finally, I have it!

The DVD case has an extra "paperback" (I don't know the english word -_-). So, two discs in one case. Nice! Four episodes and one part of the extras on each DVD. Five languages (dub) and subtitles in castellan.
And yes, it's uncut (and remastered). When there is a scene (for example the title card or the eye catchers) which was cut in the old spanish versions, it changes to the japanese track.

The remastering is good, but I prefer the Dragonbox. On my PC it seems very "blurred". But see for yourself

There is something extremely odd about those fingers...where Goku and Kuririn are holding hands.

Anyhow, I think that the spanish remasters look great.

By the way, what's the audio format the Japanese version on this Spanish DVD is in? On one of the menus it reads "Audio Japones 2.0", so is it Japanese 2.0 stereo surround sound (yeah, we all wish!), or is it 2.0 monaural sound, like it is the DragonBox releases?
