At what age do you personally think that someone is old enough to watch Dragon Ball?

Post by floofychan333 » Sat Apr 01, 2017 10:45 pm

I believe that 13 is the age where kids are mature enough to watch the original Dragon Ball but kids should be able to watch DBZ at any age because there's almost no sexual content. If I'd known that the original DB was airing on TV as a kid, I don't think my parents would have allowed me to watch it because I've always had to wait to be a specific age to experience things and since I would have been super young (4-8 or something like that) I imagine the show would have been considered too mature for me.
What are your thoughts?

Considering the cultural differences between the western world and Japan, it seemed like the original Dragon Ball was intended for kids as young as 3. The sexual jokes are definitely not for children, but neither is the explicit violence. Juveniles are inevitably going to copy what they see on TV, which includes kid Goku's inappropriate touching and the punchfests of DBZ.

Instead of actual age, I'd probably decide on a case-to-case basis since there are likely small children who can handle both and preteens who can't stomach either

My sensibilities may be loose, but I'd let them watch whenever they wanted. It's not some ridiculously vulgar show or anything. I doubt kids will be damaged by a little nudity and a few lighthearted sex jokes.

I know some(probably a lot of you)will disagree with me but I think a kid as young as 6 should be able to watch Dragon Ball uncensored. I mean kids in Japan saw it. And kids play rated M games all the time. At least this is true with my little brother who was playing games rated M games(17+) when he was 6. I really don't think Dragon Ball is too mature for kids. Of course the sexual content isn't really appropriate for kids. But somehow Spopovich beating Videl up is.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

You'd have to be at least 1,000,000,000 years old to watch this shit. It's so grossly perverted and so overwhelmingly vulgar to the point where we kids can't handle it.

18 and not a second sooner. This is intense, hardcore shit, and if any kid sees it, they'll be replicating what they see, because that's what kids do and why the hell should I be responsible for what my kid does? That's the TV/iPad/Computer/porn site's job!

Imagine: kids going around throwin' Kamehamehas, Makankosappos and Kienzans everywhere! It would mean the end of the world as we know it!

My favorite was the Vegeta and Bulma sex scene that was only in the HARDCORE Japanese version. I also loved that they showed her give birth to Trunks, because it was XTREME AND MATURE and just plain fucking AWESOME!

FUNimations sucks because they still won't give is those exclusive UNCUT scenes!

I don't know which version you guys saw, because I saw the UNCUT uncut version! It's much more uncut than FUNimation's, or the original Japanese version! My best friend's uncle who works at Toei sent me the tapes!

18+. Did you not know Dragon Ball was for adults? Kanzenshuu confirmed it yesterday. Check it out. Fact #6 says it all.
