English guidebooks/manga?

Post by arromdee » Tue Jun 06, 2017 2:52 pm

The Kanzenshuu site has a section for manga volumes, and a section for official databooks. However, these are only about databooks and manga volumes in Japanese.

What official Japanese databooks are in English, either because they were originally published in English in Japan, or because they were translated? (I know that Viz did Daizenshuu 1, and the Daizenshuu page here says that 4 is also mostly English.)

And is there a similar manga guide for English manga versions? I'm pretty sure there were several releases. Is there any version with minimal censorship and color pages?

Also, has there been any attempt by scanners to create a combined digital scan which uses original color pages + extra material + English translation all in the same scan?

There's not much to document about guide book releases in English, because Daizenshuu 1 is literally all we've ever had from Viz.

Other countries have received translations of certain Daizenshuu volumes and later releases (Chouzenshuu, trivia book, etc.), but it's not much.

We do not currently have a guide to Viz's various releases of the manga's English translation on our website. That's a larger project for us to maybe one day do, but it's not currently in the works or even remotely planned.

Various individuals and groups have done scanlations of the manga (which run gamut in terms of both translation and image quality), but those are not up for distribution within this community.
