I didn't see anyone mentioning this yet but I'll go ahead. Toei has now made Dragon Ball Movies 1-4 available in HD on iTunes. They said movie 3 was available on their Twitter page but I don't see it listed. What's funny about movie 1 though is that they call it "Dragon Ball Z: Curse of the Blood Rubies" with a poster to go along with it. Someone literately put the title of DB Movie 1 over an image used for DBZ Movie 1 and absolutely didn't question it.

They offer a clip of each film and it appears to be the same HD master of the remastered DB films Funimation uses on their streaming service. The specs of each film suggest that they're dub only as well. Pretty cool stuff! I'd love to see each Dragon Ball Z film in HD be available for digital purchase as well as their subtitled versions. Battle of Gods and Resurrection F both offer subtitled versions, so I'd like to see this across the board in the future.

Cool hopefully this means a Blu-ray release soon enough.
DB, Z, and GT subbed are my "canon".

Does DB Movie 2 still have the half-frame rate problem?

Great news. I can't wait for FUNimation to release it on Blu-ray because the movies look absolutely gorgeous with that Level-treatment they gave it.
Too bad the Japanese audio is gonna suck, though.

You know these have been available for long elsewhere, right?

Not with Japanese audio and English subs on Blu-ray.

No but that was not my point. My point was that they have been out for some time but not been released on BD. Not sure exactly how long but i think two years.

But they have been available on Blu-ray, though just in Mexico with the Mexican dub.
Seriously, what's taking FUNimation so long to get these out! I want to buy them so badly!

I mean you could always just mux in the Japanese audio to the blu ray footage and get the subs on it. It's from Funi so it should sync up all on it's own.

Syncing is easy and all that but the cover looks mediocre at best and it's lacking Japanese audio on it so if I ever just wanted to watch it as is, I couldn't. That's why I'm waiting for FUNimation to get its stuff together or alternatively Selecta Visión who also release their Dragon Ball home releases with Japanese audio and subs (Spanish), so Selecta will suit me if FUNi doesn't.

I haven't bought the movie but I did watch the trailer they had of it which is just a random clip from the movie and it looked like it had the same frame rate issue that is on the 4-pack dvd.
And for some reason, that movie costs $5 more than the other two.
The fact that these are dub only also kind of sucks. Itunes does support multiple audio tracks and subtitles or multiple versions of a movie which I have seen on other movies I own on itunes so there's really no reason why they couldn't be included here or why Battle of Gods and Resurrection F require a separate purchase to get the Japanese version.

This is what absolutely baffles me.
Also, yes Movie 2 does still suffer from the horrible frame rate issue. It’s sad that this is the primary HD source now.

Managed to grab iTunes' trailer in 480p.

Maybe FUNi wants to make as much money as possible? Viz does the same thing with Sailor Moon & Naruto's Japanese dubs requiring separate purchases for no reason.
