Seeing these fuckers in motion may or may not have me reacting like the double rainbow guy. I mean WOW. And this is just on my computer monitor.

Can anyone share script files for color-correcting these? The videos are looking FANTASTIC! Watched Movie 8 last night which doesn't even look like it needs much (if any) CC, but watching Movie 4 now and it is in quite serious need. I'd do it myself, but I don't understand the process well enough and don't trust my eyes...

Movies 3 and 8 got the best treatment...it's like watching the cel art in motion as far as the detail is concerned.

Makes sense for movie 8, it is a precursor for whats to come in December/January. Not to mention it will be seen by many on the big screen in September. I haven't got around to watching it yet, but I assume movie 12 looks phenomenal as well.jjgp1112 wrote:Movies 3 and 8 got the best treatment...it's like watching the cel art in motion as far as the detail is concerned.

This looks great. Question, are these the ones on Amazon video in USA or is it JPN only?

You know, it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth that after spending thousands and thousands of dollars on the product, the best quality version is streaming. In the very least, it's the movies that I don't really care much about. But still, it's just strange to me that it was never released. I guess somebody figured that the movies weren't that big of a deal to warrant a proper physical release.

Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread
If the plan were always to potentially release both, it would make sense to start with the streaming services, since there's no cost of production once the remaster is finished. If there's not a physical release certain, they're probably testing the waters with this new transfer. If it's popular and sells well enough, only then does it make financial sense to put these to disc (cost of authoring, disc production, packaging, storefront costs, etc).TheGreatness25 wrote:You know, it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth that after spending thousands and thousands of dollars on the product, the best quality version is streaming. Kinda looks like the Dragon Box but in 4:3. Imo, its the 2nd or 3rd best looking source here, depending on how it looks in motion.MadSpecialist wrote:For comparison (and completist's) sake, from AB Vidéo's DVD boxset (576p):DHM211 wrote:Here's a comparison between the various releases if anyone needs further proof that this is the best DB has ever looked.

French dvd for movies (only collector part 2 as p1 is widescreen old footage) are the best fullscreen version for all of them except 12 13 that sadly use old french master and only remastered frames for cut scenes....DHM211 wrote:Kinda looks like the Dragon Box but in 4:3. they are nice, little dark and blurry that's all with crappy audio remaster inside all wrong things that can be said for them

Ha, yeah I'm feeling similarly. I just got DBox The Movies. And don't get me wrong, I'm super happy with it. But it's hilarious that this popped up just a couple weeks after.TheGreatness25 wrote:You know, it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth that after spending thousands and thousands of dollars on the product, the best quality version is streaming. Tbh the Ultimate Uncut version of Dead Zone was a pretty great looking release. Its in 4:3, pretty properly saturated, has decent dark details, and was remarkably sharp for a dvd, without any sort of filters. Tbh, it was kinda like the Level Blu Rays if they were put on DVD's. I don't have any screenshots on me but I could post some later.HakkaiBills93 wrote:French dvd for movies (only collector part 2 as p1 is widescreen old footage) are the best fullscreen version for all of them except 12 13 that sadly use old french master and only remastered frames for cut scenes....DHM211 wrote:Kinda looks like the Dragon Box but in 4:3. french dvd are only good for movies 7-11 so 1-6 can't be better than ultimate uncut, for ultimate uncut i would have said probably more movie 1 that is really really neat and nice , movie 2-3 looks have rainbowing, dot crawl and other things, and isn't as sharp as movie 1 even in the ultimate uncut collection
Re: Dragon Ball Movies HD Remaster - Amazon Video/Netflix Japan - Discussion Thread
So far there's no word about them leaving the Japanese streaming services they'e currently on but hopefully that'll change as we get closer to Super's movie release.HakkaiBills93 wrote:If you talk about official way, do you have clue about "them ported over to other countries?"

Hows the french dvd's for movie 12 and 13? 12 and 13 are among the worst, in terms of picture quality, for any of the movie singles. However, Funi's Japanese track for the movie 13 single is in stereo, and is actually as clear as the Dragon Box's version.HakkaiBills93 wrote:don't worry it's a well known factDHM211 wrote:Tbh the Ultimate Uncut version of Dead Zone was a pretty great looking release. Best 4:3 releases of the movies, for the record, are:
DB 1, 3-4: Funi HD master
DB 2: 2005 Funi DVD single
Z1-3: Ultimate Uncut
Z4-6, 12-13: Madman DVD single
Z7-11: French DVD
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.
