How the AB Group dubbed Dragon Ball + Lecordier/Nozawa Colab!

Post by eledoremassis02 » Tue Jan 22, 2019 7:11 pm

Going thru old digitized tapes I found some time ago and ran across this gem. They went to France to talk about how Anime and animation was done there and they stopped by AB stuido's to see how they were dubbing Dragon Ball. Whats even cooler is that they brought Brigitte Lecordier (goku) to Japan to do a scene with Nozawa! I edited out all the non DB related material.

I remember Brigitte Lecordier saying that they were treating her like a queen when she was in Japan.
I bet! Besides being Goku, she's also French (which is super popular in Japan). I wonder if she's the first Goku to meet Nozawa?

Most likely yes, since France was one of the first countries that got DB. I wonder if Nozawa has met any other Goku except for Lecordier (French kid Goku) and Schemmel (English adult Goku).

Wow, that was very awesome seeing another foreign dub's Goku/Gohan VA performing a scene read alongside the great Masako Nozawa herself. It was also quite an interesting look into how the French dub of the original series was produced back in the day.
DB collection related goals as of now:

1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)

2.) Collect rest of manga

3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

Daaaaamn, this is the first time I ever actually saw how a dubbing studio records the voices. It's quite insightful!

Also, it is amazing how Brigitte had the privilege to meet Masako-san that early in the franchise. And yeah, Brigitte does a swell job for voicing Goku/Gohan.

This forum is so over-dramatic that it's not even funny.
