Redubbing would only make Vignigna into a martyr: edgy and something to seek out. My personal feelings on the practice of foreign dubbing aside, it is best to not give fuel to the fire by redubbing the Broli scenes.

Re: Vic Mignogna
Figured this was only a matter of time, it's just gotten way too heated overall for FUNimation to want to be involved with him, whether they believed in his innocence or not (and I'd wager it was also a point now that so many people who work for FUNi a lot more frequently were also pointing fingers, so why run the risk of losing multiple people rather than just one?).
In regards to Dragon Ball, I still highly doubt we're going to have Broly re-dubbed. I also don't think they're going to stop using his previous work on anything else that's already been released (like, I don't think you're suddenly going to find his cover of Dragon Soul removed from Kai, for example). Burter will likely go back to Sabat eternally now too. I...think that's about it for his contributions as far as Dragon Ball goes, unless I'm forgetting something.

Ironically enough, he was Burter in the Ultimate Uncut re dub on Cartoon Network back in 2005 before later releases (Orange Bricks, Dragon Boxes) where Sabat's voiceover was later placed over it.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Figured this was only a matter of time, it's just gotten way too heated overall for FUNimation to want to be involved with him, whether they believed in his innocence or not (and I'd wager it was also a point now that so many people who work for FUNi a lot more frequently were also pointing fingers, so why run the risk of losing multiple people rather than just one?).

Yes, most companies do their own "internal investigation" when big news like this breaks. It's just corporate-speak that may or may not mean anything.

You saw Batman v Superman? Is it the Ultimate Edition? No? Then you haven't seen Batman v Superman. Also, the Snyder Cut is the greatest, non-deconstructionist ensemble comic book film ever made.

Re: Vic Mignogna
Let me rephrase: it's corporate-speak that never means anything. They don't make the results or methods of their "investigations" public because that makes them liable, or if their methods were dubious, brings them bad PR.Fionordequester wrote:But it may mean something...that's what matters.TKA wrote:Yes, most companies do their own "internal investigation" when big news like this breaks. Why I said "may or may not" is because they may have done an actual investigation, but it's likely that they didn't. It's a PR thing to save face, mostly.

Re: Vic Mignogna
I can see a partial redub occur, where Broly's normal dialogue is replaced but his battle screams (of which is it a fair bit of in DBS:B) remain as they were.
At the very least FUNi know that Broly will be coming back in future content so they know to start thinking about someone who can voice this rather popular character.

Only for one dub of one show.Big Black Saiyan wrote:Funimation kicked Vic out there studio
FUNi rarely rereleases anything outside of remasters that just reuse the original dub recordings they did. They've never redubbed anything anyways outside of early Z & bits of Yu Yu Hakusho to have more consistent recordings of their casts (minus Sean Schemmel, who could've used it the most). Once the Broly movie's out, those are gonna be the audio masters they're gonna be using forever. Trust me.Marlowe89 wrote:I'd be very, very surprised if they redubbed Broly. Even if they had all the time in the world to find a replacement actor before the home release, it's just not cost-effective.
On one hand, that doesn't bother me because I'm fortunate enough to easily separate the art from the artist. On the other hand, I feel for the victims -- maybe if there's a re-release down the line, they can more easily weigh their options.
Back to the topic, this shit has been a long time coming. I'm glad the people he's hurt can be more at peace now.

Doesn't mean he's not still Broly, or Sabo. These have been going on for years now, which means they're not new, but we'll see if they announce any recastings.jjgp1112 wrote:"Funimation will not be engaging Mignogna in future productions."Scsigs wrote:Only for one dub of one show.Big Black Saiyan wrote:Funimation kicked Vic out there studio

They will be recast if the roles will be needed again. They are no longer working with Vic. That tweet made it abundantly clear.
