Chris Ayres' current condition?

Post by foxfang4 » Sat Feb 02, 2019 9:19 am

I'm not sure if this counts relevant to this subforum, but I wanted to see if anyone had any updates on Chris Ayres' (modern voice of Frieza) condition. The most recent update I've found is on this reddit post from 1 year ago. I think this guy is incredible talented, and I was kind of blown away that he pulled another 10/10 performance in the Broly movie despite his condition. I really hope he pulls through, and I'd appreciate any updates if people have them. Here is the link to an update from a year ago. Apparently his last surgery was successful, but it seems he was recovering up until he came back to do the Broly film:

Oh so it is him voicing Freeza in Broli? Excellent news. Glad he seems to be on the mend. COPD can be a horrible disease and from what we know he's lucky to be alive. From what I've heard of his understudy Daman Mills he sounds fine but it's clearly someone doing an impression of Ayres. Seeing the dubbed version of the movie tomorrow so I'm looking forward to hearing his performance.

That said, I'm not sure it's any of our business RE: his health. If he's back to voice acting then that's a very good sign right there. If there are no updates to be found then chances are he wants to keep the subject between himself and his loved ones.
New to the forum? Just want to know when you'll hit your next posting rank? Ever wondered why some users have special titles, and what they mean? The answers to all these questions and more are waiting for you in the Kanzenshuu Member Hierarchy Guide!!

I understand. I just wanted to see if he was ok. While generally this would be a private matter. His condition was made quite public when Chris Sabat asked fans for donations to pay for his surgery. So I think in this case, the matter is quite open, and I would imagine a fan asking for his condition isn't something to be considered meddlesome, malicious or rude.

Chris Ayres recently tweeted that he is "hanging in there" in regards to his health.

He seems to be taking this in stride and has the support of his family, friends, and fans.

I'm glad Mr Ayres' health has strengthened.

Good to hear that he is steadily improving and still keeping on, he's definitely by far my favorite of the official English voices for Freeza especially in Kai and recent movies.
DB collection related goals as of now:

1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)

2.) Collect rest of manga

3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

For those unaware, he's been posting a few memes about this on his Twitter the past week or so.
