Well, they've gotten fans excited and hyped up so I'd not be surprised that the pre-order stock will be sold out within an hour, if even. They're going for a really limited quantity.

You clearly are misunderstanding this it isn't stock is limited to only 3,000, its if at least 3000 don't get bought this does not get made. That is a completely different scenario than what you are describing.

Wait, they raised the minimum necessary from 2,500 to 3,000 with absolutely no details whatsoever just because why not? I don't know, I really have a bad feeling about this. Clutch your Dragon Boxes hard (but not so hard you damage them) and never let go.

FUNimation have adjusted their minimum orders for print from 2500, up to 3000.

If these were to sell at $500 each, they stand to make $1.5M.
We're talking big money here, and that's only to get to print.
Not only that...they also used a DBZA "Goku is retarded" joke...

Sorry! We let Goku do the math and, well…mistakes were made."
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

The cynicist in me says that someone in one of the studios wanted hard numbers but didn't REALLY want to do it, and now they've moved the goal posts as an excuse.

The middle-ground in me says that these are also counting for pre-orders and they've made the bucket bigger.

The positive in me is out to lunch.

In addition to what the Chaos Master said, I’d like to point out that there are going to be zero made till after pre-orders are finisht. At that point, they will make enuf to fulfill all the pre-orders, and probably some extras. That’s what Toei did with all the Dragon Box releases too.

The difference here though is that these are simply to show interest. Nothing about the wording suggests that it's limited run pre-order signups.

Sounds like they're just using Super Goku. Let's not forget the 100 trillion sit ups scene.

It isn't limited to Abriged. There's a scene early in Ch41 of the manga that reveals Goku had no idea what number came after 11.

Thank you! It really bothers me when people think DBZA came up with all these jokes and ideas when all they do is prop things up at least from what I've noticed. In this case I don't know how anyone that knows DB thinks someone saying Goku being uneducated is somehow a reference to DBZA... It's just like the Popo thing in DBS.

I had no idea they polled fans in the past and 4:3 won and then they ignored it. That’s pretty crummy

Yeah. With this recent moving of the goal posts, I'm worried the same will happen here.

Everyone bought 16:9 in the past so it's clearly what the fans want - THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE SEEN. Instant trash if that's what happens, at least I don't have to waste my money.

I still feel it will be 4:3 now the issue is it will be in a super expensive collectible box set that not everyone can afford.

Saying everyone bought 16:9 in the past well yeah because it was a cheap option.

I mean, even if this apparently limited collector's edition release is indeed 4:3 i'm still waffling on whether i want to plunk down the cash for it seeing as i already (mostly) have the Dragon Boxes.
DB collection related goals as of now:

1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)

2.) Collect rest of manga

3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

As a Dragon Box owner if it's 4:3 and the remaster is good (the Gundam Blu-ray releases have been fantastic for example), I'll probably pick it up. Why not?

They wouldn't. There's a 16:9 option already. Besides why would they post a 4 star and 3 star dragonball? I rather think they upped the number based on the e-mail subscriptions. They're seeing a way to get more money.

I'll get this set if it's uncut and a proper, new remaster. I want to be able to watch DBZ properly in HD the next time I watch the show.

I guess i will wait and see when the info about the release is revealed before making a decision, if it turns out to be just that then i may consider getting it.

Them stealth changing the minimum number of required orders with an "Oops. Our bad." before announcing any other details about the set is lowering my confidence in this.
