Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I don't even see what the problem using "Ten" as a short-form is. I mean yeah, it's a number, but lots of people use similar short-forms or nicknames if that's a part of their actual names. (Or they could just call him Tenshinhan in full, right?)
Still... not as bad as the Harmony Gold dub renaming Goku "Zero", or the original Sailor Moon dub/edit renaming & Americanizing almost everyone.

This isnt a response, but I thought you be interested in this, Live Interview w/ Gen Fukunaga, Matt O'Hara, & Chris Sabat for level set promotionJohnnyCashKami wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 9:04 am You may find it "correct" and "appropriate" but changing characters names is almost as bad as making a "better" soundtrack for the show.
It's like someone's name is Mike but he's called Andrew.

Also interesting to note how much more confident and natural O'hara is

How are these examples anything Ilike Krillin? I agree that Bulla and Bullif would both be ridiculous in place of Bra and Brief, two recognizable English terms. Thankfully no one would have to worry about Tollanks either since Funimation and Steve Simmons both use Trunks. Not sure what all the smarm was for, if anything you could have just said you didn't like it because it's Funimation's romanization and I'd see your point.linkdude20002001 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 3:08 amIf you’re fine with Krillin, then you’d be fine with Bulla, rite? And her brother Tollanks? And their grandpa Dr Bullif. You know, for consistency.
This is the episode of when Gokuh enrages himself after Freezer talk shit about Kuririn

I'm now confused by this counter... It says units remaining 2918/6000 so one assumes it's 2918 left, however the counter is going up not down...

Not the first time I've seen that. Either it's cancellations (hopefully) or it's buggy (most likely).Daimo-Rukiri wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 11:11 am I'm now confused by this counter... It says units remaining 2918/6000 so one assumes it's 2918 left, however the counter is going up not down...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Wow, that promo art looks disgusting. Why put blueberry Gogeta on it? Even the Dragon Boxes were of higher quality. Did they not learn anything from the gorgeous Dragon Box art? FFS, Toei still can’t take their head out of their ass. It’s even more sad when the Netflix/Amazon stream movies are LIGHT YEARS better looking than the official release on Blu-Ray.Baggie_Saiyan wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:35 amThey are the biggest problem, imo, they are the ultimate rights holder aren't they? They should have clamped down on the likes of Toei and Bandai's bullshit before things spiralled out of control to where we are now, Toei lied themselves into censoring the movie BDs, Bandai realised they could get away with producing shit quality and charging up 600% more than they should etc. Shueisha just happy to let the integrity of the franchise dwindle because MONEY! The idea of putting more effort in something and getting more money in return is something of a myth right?
Broly should have been a fresh start for the entire franchise, clean slate let's stop all the BS and treat the franchise right.... but nope things have arguably gotten worse, Bandai regressed hard and now have basically full control of DB merch (which is just fab!) and Toei well they allowed this Z 30th BD fiasco to happen for one and over in Japan, their limited edition release of Broly aside from the box art has plethora of screenshots and re-used promo art... are you kidding me? The most low effort release they could possibly f**king do... Literally you can print your on screenshots on gloss paper for like 10p! I did exactly that for ResF back in 2015! Similarly Bandai charged fans 8000+yen for Premium Cardass cards, there were about 80 and 70 were screenshots....
The way DB is being treated by these companies is so godamn soul crushing...
Truly sad part is in 5,10,15,20 years we will be having the same conversations again and again!

Maybe a bunch of people cancelled when they realized they were never going to be able to flip these sets.Forte224 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 11:45 amNot the first time I've seen that. Doubtful. Flipping theses sets should be easy as pie. It's "collectible" regardless of how bad the video quality is.Gligarman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 12:30 pmMaybe a bunch of people cancelled when they realized they were never going to be able to flip these sets.Forte224 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 11:45 amNot the first time I've seen that. It's a shame, if the remaster for the set were better i'd consider getting it but at this point as i've said as nauseum i am just going to stick with my Dragon Boxes.
DB collection related goals as of now:
1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)
2.) Collect rest of manga
3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

I am keeping mine too. Anybody who owns them should keep them forever. It just doesn't need to be repeated nonstop.

I'm glad that Dragon Ball dodged the bullet of characters being completely renamed because Pokémon in Japan uses the original names and in the West are dub terms only. I'd kind of hate if Goku was "Bob" in the West and Vegeta was "Jack" since Pokémon's Satoshi was renamed Ash for the West.
Hey, Bob, have you become a Super Human 2 yet?

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
In English it's normally known as a number but not in other languages necessarily, some it doesn't have a definition at all. If we're going to rename characters because a word already has a definition the that's sorta like censorship.Bryesque wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 9:37 am I don't even see what the problem using "Ten" as a short-form is. The Harmony Gold dub of Dragon Ball was short-lived but no one really had a problem with the new names given to the characters.

If it's going up, then it is to be taken the other way around: 2918 units sold on the 6000 available rather than 2918 left on the 6000 available.Daimo-Rukiri wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 11:11 am I'm now confused by this counter... It will be the end when it reaches 6000 sold on the 6000 available.
Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
It still says "Units Remaining" above the counter, though. And it's down to 2916 now. So something is up. FUNimation has a very buggy site, so I'd attribute it to that.Cold Skin wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 12:56 pmIf it's going up, then it is to be taken the other way around: 2918 units sold on the 6000 available rather than 2918 left on the 6000 available.Daimo-Rukiri wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 11:11 am I'm now confused by this counter...
