Rarest Dragon Ball Special ever! (from 1993)

Post by peterx » Sat Mar 16, 2019 5:59 pm

Hi,

There is a very rare DB special called "Looking Back at it All: The Dragon Ball Z Year-End Show!"
"It premiered on Fuji Television on December 31, 1993 between episodes 211 and 212." and never seen after that officially, no released media, nothing..

-----
UPDATE!!
See #4 reply, there is the new english version! ;)
NEW link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CoDoHsZhck
-----

And the actual very bad quality footage (5 min):

This is the only known footage of it, but maybe there is a chance (here on Earth's greatest DB forum community 8) ) that somebody has this in better quality? or at least subtitles for this version? Because not even subs can be found for this very short special.. :(

A BIG Thanks in advance, who can help all of Us & me out! :)

Other rare DB stuff has surfaced but not this, unfortunately. Most of Dragon Ball media from the 90's is unlikely to ever get an official home release.

But there is a good chance a few on here have it but keep it private.

Yeah that's what I tought, maybe there is a source material from which this YouTube video was made, those people who share it would be so famous everyhere.. :D It has even an independent Lost Media wiki page..

But if nothing else, would somebody be so kind to tell what are they talking about (subs), who knows Japanese language? :)

It's good at least someone was able to make a translation of this so i can actually understand what's being said, and i like the part at the end where Goku says to keep watching the show with the family all dressed up around him that he's wearing the monkey suit he had on briefly at the start of movie 8 and i believe that it's the same one he also wears during the party filler episodes near the end of the series.

There's also a rare behind the scenes of Dragon Ball GT video which i know doesn't have a translated version available at this point.

It's this video here:

DB collection related goals as of now:

1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)

2.) Collect rest of manga

3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

Interesting find, Thank you! :)

(Well, the problem with translating this is that my friend can't translate directly from Japanese language, he translated from a French sub on the Year End special too.)

Ah i see, though maybe you could eventually find someone out there or perhaps even around here who can do it with sufficient knowledge of the language.

Here on Kanzenshuu forum I know some people who are the perfect Japanese translators, but I don't even dare to send them a private message... They are admins/moderators.. I think Herms is among the best Japanese translators here, but good luck... :)

I'm on my Samsung tablet and used the YouTube app but can't see the English subs anywhere. How do you turn them on?

There should be a cogwheel somewhere in the app where you can set the speed, quality and the subs too.

That might've been Kei17 who uploaded originally with much lower quality but whatever the case, cool to see that.
