I feel like a lot of people would just say things like "make the writing and visuals good" and like, yeah, those things are kind of a given.
I dunno what I'd do with absolute control over everything, but I'd love to see some spinoffs.
Say once we reach GT-era (and not actually doing GT because it still pretty much sucks), I still really want essentially a
Boruto-type thing, where Goku and Vegeta and the gang are off doing something else, and the main cast consists of Pan, Trunks, Goten, Bulla, Marin and maybe Uub. Having a group of 5 or 6 introduced as separate but equal characters with individual development to track has always been more interesting to me than just 1 with a bunch of extras introduced as "main cast members" to be discarded or replaced along the way.
But I also feel like you could go weirder. Like, I wanna see a whole series where the
villains are the main characters. Freeza is the obvious choice as he's still alive, but making new characters isn't a bad idea either. I feel that a lot of DB's villains suffer from being very inhuman and cartoonish (uh, the bad kind of cartoonish) where their motivation is secondary to their roles as antagonists. Actually humanizing a character over the course of their own series, only for them to still be clearly in the wrong, would make an entirely different setup to their eventual confrontation with the heroes. Zamasu was really close to hitting the premise I'm talking about here, though how he was actually handled was a little lackluster.
Or hell, how about a DB story where
not a single established character appears. Take Toriyama's artstyle, and maybe some things about the setting, and tell an entire disconnected story that's not immediately relevant to a real event in the main DB canon at all. This is the sort of thing I really wish they'd do with those new Star Wars spinoff movies, just flesh out the world and tone of the franchise without needing the brand recognition of it's iconic characters and maybe make it feel more like a coherent universe of it's own.
Also, I feel like in the interim between now and Kid Trunks actually growing to look and sound like Future Trunks, it'd be worth closing the book on time travel in the series forever. I'm thinking that some story arc set off-planet ends with Goku and co. returning to Earth only to find like a fuckin
thousand time machines and a literal army of Trunkses, Mais and maybe even Zamasus arguing about what the fuck to do. I don't really want to bring shitty Heroes/Xenoverse nonsense into it, but I like Kaioshin of Time so maybe involve her somehow. Like, somehow have the various paradoxes and complete mess of the timeline
become the villain. Call him "Paradox King" or something, have beating him change the nature of time in the DB verse or whatever, all the Trunkses go home and now time travel just doesn't even happen anymore.
Similarly, CRASH EVERY UNIVERSE INTO EACH OTHER. Like, mash all 12 universes into one big universe next time Zeno wants to destroy a bunch. There is literally nothing but potential that can come from that decision, especially when Toriyama pulls stupid shit like "U7 only has 27 planets with intelligent life". Also because I feel like all the gods and deities would be running around panicking about it, like
the office merger in Bojack Horseman.
Oh, and also give the series some good High Quality releases, reedit Kai to include the first six arcs and rescore it with the Kikuchi score and fix the footage.
