Advice for DB/DBZ Business

Post by BenjHall » Fri Jul 23, 2021 6:06 am

HI All

Firstly thank you for having me here, I've been eager to see my approval email pop up in my inbox!

I am looking for some advice, I have recently left my job to pursue my dream, see I always wanted to open up a store, like a warhammer shop but for DBZ, however I cannot justify a store just yet, so thinking of doing an ecommerce until I'm at the stage for a physical shop, so I've got everything set up, I've took out business insurance from www.axa.co.uk/business-insurance/, I've got my bookkeeping from https://ember.co/, I have my business license from https://www.axa.co.uk/business-insuranc ... -licences/, I have staff in mind for treasurers, managers etc. so everything is lined up, however in terms of stock I've got stuff in like; Great Ape's & 17cm figurines, but because I've gone off personal preference, like Goku, Beerus, Roshi, Buu etc i'm not sure what is popular out there, it would be great to hear what kind of characters are your favourite so I know what to prioritise. I'm planning to get some bits from collectors mainly, but I wondered is https://www.alibaba.com/showroom/dragon ... igure.html Any good? I'd rather avoid cheap & cheerful stuff and go towards higher end, but does anyone have any experience in their quality? Also any advice on the administration side i.e accountant, insurance etc would be really beneficial as well if you have sold these before.

Yours

B

As someone who as run an online anime business for years I can tell you that 99.9999% of items on alibaba are bootlegs. Please don't go this route. If you really love the series then do not support counterfeiting. The creators/licensors/etc get nothing from those sales. Buy stuff from official distributors. There's a huge market out there for it and plenty of way cooler and higher quality official items you can offer. :)

Definitely agree about Alibaba. I would try and find a source in Japan (or some users here I'm sure can inform you about suppliers)

Perhaps you can do an accompanying youtube Channel that covers unboxing and such, I've seen other shops do this and it gives out advertising and bring extra income for your business.
