Was the new Broly inspired by the Rock

One thing I notice is the strong Hawaiian roots they give the new broly when it comes to his theme song. In addition, when we look at Broly's skin tone it is more tanned and in keeping in what you would see from someone in Hawai compared to his paler DBZ iteration.

Putting this together with the rock's Hawain roots and constantly playing a hulking, tough guy and it leads one to wonder whether the new Broly drew inspiration from the rock in his design.

The Rock is half black, half Samoan.

I don't think so. Broly has always been depicted as a hulking brute, and his darker skin stone in Super: Broly reflects the planet he and Paragus were stranded on and the harsher conditions he grew up in. I doubt anyone on the staff consciously looked to the Rock for inspiration.
The story of DRAGON BALL starts from the moment Goku met Bulma. I don't really mind the Z, so long as it's understood that it's not the true beginning of the story.

I actually prefer the Goku vs Tenshinhan and Goku vs Piccolo Jr. rivalries to the Goku vs Vegeta rivalry.

I don't think so. The Rock can cut much better promos.
