Has he ever actually been shown having affection for another man? The only person we see him show any sort of "love" for is Mai (a woman), so at the very least he is not homo or aro-ace. We can think of different theories, but all that's speculation.

The relationship with Mai confirms he's at least attracted to women, yeah.

And Dragon Ball isn't exactly the kind of show that deals with nuance and grey areas in sexuality so its a probably a safe indicator that he's written to be straight.

Yeah it can be assumed that Toriyama obviously wrote all the main characters to be straight as he’s not the type to deal with complex sexual relationships or anything like that

The whole MaixTrunks thing I don't buy it.

How Trunks and Mai got together and whether its narrative execution was handled well is irrelevant, the fact remains that they are most definitely a couple.

While I like the idea and it will probably be my headcanon from now on, I really don't believe the creators were intending on hinting at Future Trunks as gay. Also, for those that believe Trunks and Goten are gay in GT, the GT 2nd ending does not indicate anything as Goten is seen walking with the red hair girl (don't remember name) later on.

It's a neat idea. We just don't live in that timeline though.

I had a feeling Present Trunks would be brought up anyway even though I specifically said this thread was about Future Trunks as each version of Trunks is different personality wise but that tends to happen a lot in discussions when people compare and get off subject

I mean technically they ARE the same person but Future Trunks’ shyness makes him much more bashful around women than present Trunks for instance so that’s why I mentioned only Future Trunks as his orientation could possibly be different than present Trunks due to his lack of interaction with other people besides his mom

I honestly ship those two a lot as they have extremely good chemistry ever since they were best friends as kids

They did absolutely everything together !
I mean EVERYTHING!
Played, ate, slept, trained, sparred, and even peed together side by side

(I don’t need to be a male to know that peeing right next to another male is kinda gay and they were pretty darn close to each other too SO close you think their streams would cross)

Anyway, their compatibility together is infinitely more believable than Goten and that ditsy idiot of a girl

This is pretty straightforward. Sure, we are now thinking differently, as anyone can be basically anything, in whatever way you can imagine and we respect that.

But back then, also the same time I grew up, Dragon Ball was and basically Dragon Ball is coming from Toriyama, a series for elementary school and pre teen boys with everything that comes with it.
So they are basically treating Trunks as a kid that probably is not interested in girls yet, but well he actually IS!
