I honestly don't think think most of them know names of the Japanese cast beyond Masako Nozawa and maybe Ryo Horikawa.

It's not that weird.

This is a guy that's apparently on record saying he doesn't care about being faithful to the original Japanese version. Based on that, it's not a stretch to extrapolate that he probably doesn't care about the Japanese side of the franchise enough to pay attention to it.

Sabat is the same guy who made a big deal back in 2010 about how much more faithful the Kai dub was compared to the old dub.

Yeah, as a marketing ploy.

Even then most of the PR for Kai from Sabat and co was more on the lines of being a better production than a more faithful dub. Irrespective of the inaccuracy to the Japanese scripts the Funi Z dub was just an overall bad product (with the possible exception of the UUE and maybe the Majin Buu saga if we want to be generous).

Between Sabat and Schemmel, the latter always seemed to have more reverence and respect for the Japanese side of Dragon Ball. He admits he does things his own way, but he always showed them the utmost respect and was super excited to meet Nozawa. I won't ever forget that con where he was with the Japanese cast members and told that one person who asked about DBZA that it wasn't the time to discuss that.
