Favorite fights

Post by *PINHEAD* » Tue Sep 28, 2004 12:07 am

I haven't seen any topics like this (or at least not lately), so I thought it would be cool to post it here.

What are your favorite battles in Dragon Ball? This can include anything, from the manga, to the anime, to the movies, even filler. Mine goes like...

"Dragon Ball" (dragon ball quest to Piccolo story arc)
1. Son Goku vs. Red Ribbon Army HQ
2. Goku vs. Piccolo (Ma Jr.)
3. Goku vs. Piccolo (Daimaou)
4. Goku vs. Taiopaipai
5. Goku vs. Tenshinhan
6. Arale vs. General Blue (not really a battle...but who cares?)
7. Goku vs. that ninja dude in Muscle Tower

"DBZ" (Saiyan story arc to Majin Boo)
1. (Super Saiyan) Goku vs. Freeza
2. Goku vs. Vegeta (after the Majin charm)
3. Son Gohan vs. Cell
4. Gohan vs. Super Boo
5. Gotenks vs. Super Boo
6. Vegetto vs. Super Boo
7. Vegeta vs. Majin Boo
I was voted "most unique" and "most likely to become the next existential thinker" in high school.

You'll have to excuse if i use the dubbed version names but unfortunatly when you have a memory as bad as mine it would be a better idea to stick to one set of names.

Dragonball (upto part way through the Piccolo saga)

Gokuu Vs Jackie Chun
Gokuu Vs Tien (Final of the tournament, and what a jip of an end to that fight)
Piccolo Vs Roshi (I thought the old geezer had drunk from the fountain of youth or is that just an odd rumor???)
Piccolo Vs Pilaf, mai, and shuu (not a fight but it's funny when he throws them off the air ship)
Oozaru gokuu Vs Pilaf and his castle (First giant monkey seen in the series)

Dragonball Z (Saiyan Saga to Majin Buu Saga)

Gokuu & Piccolo Vs Radditz
Gokuu Vs Vegeta (first time round)
Gohan Vs Freeza (Talk about a temper tantrum)
Gohan Vs Cell
Gohan Vs Dabula (isn't piccolo meant to be the demon king????Probably a dub error)
Vegeta and Gokuu Vs Super Buu - inside his head (Talk about a head ache)

Dragonball GT
Chibi Gokuu Vs Baby (first time)
golden Oozaru Gokuu Vs Baby
SSJ4 Gokuu Vs Golden Oozaru baby (wouldn't it of been better to use vegeta's mind to control that form?)
Vegeta & Gokuu Vs Omega Shenron (from when the fusion breaks)
Chibi Gokuu Vs Chibi Vegeta (Right at the end)
NEKOJIN =^.^=

Nekojin =^.^=

Ya I like cat people so what?

Er, while I do appreciate your desire to be as specific as possible, I think that just writing "DragonBall" and "DragonBall Z" would be enough to avoid any confusion.

That said, I'm going to be a lazy, lazy man and put down Super Saiyan 2 Gohan vs Cell (Gohan getting pointy hair to Cell blowing up). Although I have a bit of a soft spot for the first Goku vs Vegeta (Vegeta killing Nappa to Vegeta escaping in an escape pod).

It's also personal preference, but threads like these are much better when people limit their answers to just one or two choices. Otherwise it just becomes a series of lists containing pretty much every important fight in the series.

Best DB Fights:
1.Piccolo Daimaoh vs. Son Goku (The most dramatic fight in DB, even more so than the fight with Ma Junyaa being that Piccolo Daimaoh already had the earth in the palm of his hand)
2.Tenshinhan Vs. Son Goku
3.Ma Junyaa vs. Son Goku
4. Tao Pai Pai vs. Son Goku
5. Jackie Chun vs. Son Goku
6. Muten Roshi vs. Piccolo Daimaoh
7. Son Goku vs. Red Ribbon Army
8. Jackie Chun vs. Tenshinhan
9. Son Gohan vs. Son Goku
10. Murasaki (a.k.a. The Purple Ninja) vs. Son Goku

Best fights of DBZ
1. Furizaa vs. Son Goku (come on...)
2. Son Gohan vs. Perfect Cell
3. Vejita vs. Son Goku (1st time)
4. Furizaa vs. Piccolo, Kuririn, Son Gohan, and Vejita
5. Son Goku vs. Majin Vejita
6. Rekkumu vs. Kuririn, Son Gohan, and Vejita (I don't care what anyone says, this is a great fight. Rekkumu may not be a major character, but this is still one of the best fights of all DBZ, hands down)
7. Nappa vs. Z senshi
8. Vejita vs. Perfect Cell
9. Vejita vs. Android #18
10. Goku vs. Perfect Cell

As for GT that's just shit.

This is true. It's hard to have a discussion based on lists of every other rumpus. There's GOT to be one or two fracases that you can all reflect upon whenever you think "Dragonball." Or maybe there isn't, and you can simultaneously occupy your thoughts with thirty different fights. I dunno.

With that said, I'd have to pick Majin Vegeta vs. Goku. I also highly enjoy the one-episode brouhaha between Vegeta and Kid Buu. He may have had the raging shit pounded out of him, but I find this makes Vegeta look like a bad mother****er, since he had his ass handed to him but kept going up to the table and asking for seconds, while Goku just got tuckered out like a complete puss. Yeah, Vegeta's a scrapper, he is.

*sigh* Another new member, another stupid spelling. I'm willing to let "Daimaoh" slide, but...

That's just being silly.

And I don't want to seem all moody and bitchy to oponok after he just defended my argument, but that part of me that stops me from keeping relationships going wants to type the words "FUCK" in very, very large letters, screaming "we know what 4 asterixes mean, thankyouverymuch".

I love you guys. And I agree with the Vegeta getting the crap kicked out of him then getting back up thing.

Since we're back on the topic of self-censorship, it's not that big a deal is it? Most people use it because they would rather not risk getting a call from a moderator to tone down their language. Besides, who likes scrolling through a ton of posts filled with pointless cursing?

DB:
Goku vs. Tao Pai Pai

Goku vs. Jackie Chun

Goku vs. Tenshinhan

Goku vs. Ma Junior

DBZ:
Goku vs. Vegita during the Saiyajin saga

Goku vs. Ginyu(I think it's Akira Kamiya's fantasic job as Ginyu that really made me like this one)

When Goku vs. Freeza

Gohan vs. Freeza(it wasn't long but Gohan sure showed how gutsy he'd become)

Piccolo vs. #17

SSJ2 Gohan vs. Perfect Cell

SSJ3 Goku vs. Fat Buu

Mystic Gohan vs. Super Buu

If writing "shit" is pointless cursing, then how is writing "sh*t" less pointless?

If I were running a forum and I didn't want people to swear, then I wouldn't allow them to swear at all, including writing "****", because it still stands for a swear word. A post containing "Why don't you go **** yourself up the ****ing* arse you stupid mother****ing ****" is surely still offensive?

I agree that pointless cursing is, indeed, pointless. Swear words are not a replacement for a decent vocabulary. However, they can be a helpful addition to a decent vocabulary. Using them in this strange sort of castrated fashion however just limits their usefulness and mildly insults everyone who reads them.

And thinking that it isn't swearing is a strange form of self-delusion, similar to "if I can't see it, then it's not really happening". It's interesting to note that populist tabloid newspapers (the ones that the worst sort os sensationalist stories and near naked girls every few pages) always censor out swear words, while the bigger, more "adult" broadsheet newspapers leave them in.

Er, carry on.

Meh, finally found a typo in your writing :P

But as for swearing (which is REALLY off topic), as long as it isn't used overly and is kept to a mature level, and no not like my drunk grand father on christmas day, but to such a level where people are not using it every toher word it ain't to bad.
But come on we are all mature intelligent people (I think) so we shouldn't need to use them at all. ~inserts serious looking face~

I'm neither mature nor intelligent. But you've got a point, I guess. Honestly, swears aren't even insulting to most people today. That doesn't mean you should replace everyday words with swears. It just means that we shouldn't have to worry about it.

Hmm, I guess I don't really know what my angle is. Probably because I'm always pointlessly swearing.

Shit, gotta go!

Erm, right.

OFf-topic: I'm like Zacko, cursing for the sake of cursing (though I'm not as... random as he is). I find "Fuck you" to be an appropriate outlet of anger. Aside from hitting the person, but I'm (usually) non-violent.

On-topic: Goku VS Pirate Robot, Gohan VS Piccolo (training), Mr. Satan versus Cell, Gohan VS Cell, Gotenks VS Super Buu, The GT Senshi VS Super 17, Goku VS Yi Xing Long.

I'll keep it fairly short.

Gokuu vs Jackie Chun
Gokuu vs Taopaipai (Post-tower rematch)
Gokuu vs Tenshinhan (22nd Budoukai)
Gokuu vs Piccolo (Rematch at the end of the Piccolo saga)
Gokuu vs Vegeta (Saiya-jin saga)

I thank you for you all of your opinions. However, my current position on this matter is that asterisks are just terrific little guys and we don't see them often enough, these days. The artist in me also loves forcing you all to mentally fill in the closure.

F***.

I mean, look at that. It's beautiful.

Anyway, yes, fights...
