I just remembered another mess-up of mine. When the Freeza saga was still stuck in re-runs, they were announcing the new episodes on some magazines using a poster which had Goku and Turles on it. Goku charging/looking angry and Turles looking evil in the background. So I assumed that Goku would turn evil after the Freeza arc.

I saw Freeza's final form in DBGT Final Bout and thought that he looked that way because he barely survived his fight with Goku, this was before season three aired.

I played as Kid Goku in Final Bout and thought it was Goku from Dragon Ball. Not that weird, I know, but I hadn't even heard of GT before I played the game.

Oh, I know I did buy into the idea that DBZ was "XX HARDKORE", and that the worst thing Funimation did to the show was remove blood, sex, and cursing. Because dammit, this was a FOR REALS GROWN-UP SHOW, and EVERY ADULT in Japan watched it because the show was for MATURE ADULTS.

=p

Biggest mess up? Hm, I guess thinking the anime movies were canon and then what happened in the movies would be applied to the show. Thank god I was wrong.

I remember telling people in 5th grade that the episode where Goku and Freeza first started fighting each other, can't remember the number but I remember the dub title it had (Clash of the Superpowers), didn't exist because it wasn't on Funi's website at the time.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

When I was still watching the fight between Goku and Freeza, I saw a few pictures of Final Form Cell and thought he was a new form of Freeza. The fight was taking so long, that I thought he would transform again. :)

 Saw a comic-book of film with Tullece (or baddack??) and thought: "oh, an alternative story with evil goku" (in fact i wasn't that wrong...)

 Thought Freeza at 100% of its power gained the power of teleportation, because he moved fast in the anime, and it was shown like a teleportation.

 Thought Goku SSJ and Gohan SSJ in cell saga were "new designs" for the characters, didn't know it was a transformation (I though that because changing designs for characters with no warning DID happen in french tv... especially, for exemple, when they took 2 totally different sentai series, and named them Bioman season 1 and Bioman season 2 ;p )

 Saw some images of DBGT and thought it would be cool

 Took a manga at some shop, looked at some pages. Thought "oh i remember this in anime... well... I don't even know these villains... don't care any more about this..." 5 years laters I have all the mangas, twice, episodes ripped and burned on cds, dvds and such, making fansite, fanart, fancomics and fanfic about it. I still don't know what happened.

 Could not see the difference between insect-cell and c17-cell, because... well, I don't pay attention to things.

I think that rumor turned out to be true though. Some people said Missingno was originally supposed to be data for Mew.
Missingno was a real one. If I remember right it was caused by an oversight in the way the Pokemon were numbered, resulting in it being the default number 000, or something like that. This was only in the original Red and Blue versions though, the newer versions use a different numbering system that removes the glitch.
That Nitendo had way to much space, and the Pokemons wan't storred in any logical order, they just said "It shall fit with a singel byte" so they just added 256 pokemons and crapped 266-151 of them up, Basicly then some events and stuff forgot to reset the ram, so you could reach some of those, random ones... Back in '98 when I was still new to the series, I kept reading about a character called Mr. Satan yet never actually saw a picture of him. So, later that year I picked up Legends for the Saturn and played all the way to the Buu arc when I see a character who I assumed to be Mr. Satan. In actuality, it was Dabura. I even went and told a friend who was into the series as well about my "discovery."

I suppose another would be the fact that I had no idea about the Android series. Again, while playing Legends, I was expecting to finish the Freeza arc and move right on to fighting Cell. That was really surprising.

I thought Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta was Super Saiyan 5 Goku.

When I was in the early stages of my fanhood I thought the various different colors of Broly's hair in the first movie were different forms of Super Saiyan.

I used to think that Freeza was a girl because of how his first form and final form looked. Besides that, his dubbed voice also led me to think that.
Thinking that Cell and Freeza were related in some way.
Also thinking that Garlic Jr. and Pilaf were the same person.

Well...Cell does have Freeza's DNA in him. Does that count as being related?

Thanks to the 1995 DB dub opening I was wondering when Penny was going to show up or if she was like Baby Puss.

Back when DBZ aired on CN I saw a boy in my class who was drawing a weird creature. I asked him what it was and he said that it was a villian from DBZ called Cell and he comes after the Freeza saga. I went ''whow!? really?'' and then he said that he's not actually a villian because he will turn ''good'' just like Vegeta and announce a tournament to celebrate their friendship. That messed me up..for years..A LOT.

Reminds me of some misinformation I got when I first heard of Sailors Uranus and Neptune's existances, a year before S premiered on Toonami.

My biggest mistake was taking Dragon Ball for granite. I started out by watching the Dragon Ball Z series, and always thought that Dragon Ball had to suck compared to all this action. Oh, how I was so wrong. After finally watching the Dragon Ball series, I came to the conlusion that I liked it more than Z and GT. The humor was much more amusing, and most of the action was done quite well for it's time.

This also had me wondering, "why the hell didn't Dragon Ball come out in the US first, and then go in order?"

Back in elementary school (I should be around 2nd - 3rd grade by this time..), I would go over to my buddy's house to play video games afterschool. In the process I'd always look through his stash of Dragonball merchandise. It included posters, printed images, a plethora of CARDDASS cards, and a few VCDs, and bootleg games here and there. It was heaven. Pure and utter ecstacy; better than finding your dad's stash of porn I suppose?

Anywho, I remember imagining made-up scenarios with a cast of unknown characters ( North America was merely broadcasting the first 52 Pioneer episodes of DBZ at the time ). I specifically recall believing that Android 17 and 18 were lovers.

Aside from that, I'd also like to name a regretful Dragonball related investment I made as a kid. Spending 5 - 6 bills on Score's Dragonball Z CCG release back when it was quite popular(?) Oy..I'd say that was a 'BIG' mess-up..*smacks self.

For about a year, I was convinced Freeza was female. Also, I thought DBZ episode 1 was the VERY beginning and the clips from episodes 1-153 of DragonBall were just flashback scenes made specifically for those Z episodes. I was like "WTF I MISSED ALMOST 200 EPISODES ALREADY?"
