Dragon Box: The Movies and PS3

Post by coola » Thu Oct 21, 2010 4:48 pm

Hello
I have a small question. I bought a PS3 today, but when I tried to watch one of the movies from my Dragon Box The Movies set, it played in full screen, not original 16:9 :( Could you tell me, please, how should i configure it, to watch it the way it was meant to be? {I've connected my PS3 to a Sony Bravia, using HDMI cable}

This may be your TV changing the DVD to fullscreen, but what I do is when the DVD is playing, hit 'triangle,' then click on the little icon that says 'screen mode.'

---By the way, do you have a US PS3?

US PS3s won't play Region 2 DVDs like Dragon Box: The Movies. Stupid region codes. :evil:

But he said it played but in 4:3. Try going to the settings in your PS3 and go to Video/BD settings. Then there should be one where you can choose full screen, wide screen, or whatever.

Just gonna tell you, you're footage is still what... 480p or 756p? It's not magically going to turn HD :p (though probably it looks slightly better than on a DVD player)

Your DVDs don`t have HD content. They would have to be blurays to have HD content and be able to play in 1080p quality.

The best the PS3 can do with DVDs (and any other bluray player) is upscale them to 720p, creating a pseudo-720p-HD but never a full 1080p-HD (pseudo or real) (yes, there are two types of HD, 720p and 1080p. The 1080p is the best one).

That being said, the upscaling does make them look better than "normal" play. But its not true HD (720p or 1080p).
