On why Vegeta forgot about Tarble
Okay guys, I know a lot of people on here are all like "Oh Tarble is non-canon becuase if he was Vegeta would have mentioned him when talking about the remaining Saiyans"!
BUT, what if he merely thought Tarble was dead because he was weak. If you remember Tarble was banished by King Vegeta due to the fact that he was not strong and therefore an embarrassment to the royal family. Or it could be that Vegeta, at the time still being evil, could have not enough acknowledged that Tarble existed due to the fact that he was banished.

Re: On why Vegeta forgot about Tarble
Well, he obviously knew Trunks couldn't be Tarble, so probably he didn't want to bother revealing to everyone that he had an exhiled weakling brother. No real point mentioning him.

Re: On why Vegeta forgot about Tarble
Maybe he legit thought that Tarble had died in the destruction of planet Vegeta? And even if he had managed to escape the planet beforehand, he would still be so weak with no proper fighting skills that he would likely die through other causes. I'm guessing Vegeta wasn't very optimistic about his brother possibly surviving. And he wouldn't have gone looking for him, because that would've attracted Freeza's attention and there's also the fact that Vegeta didn't care about his brother or anyone else really.

Re: On why Vegeta forgot about Tarble
Well I wasn't saying he thought that Trunks could be Tarble. I mean during the saiyan saga he said that only himself, Goku, and Nappa were the remaining Saiyans. And as you probably know since your herms!, the plot in JSAT special is that Vegeta obviously would have known about Tarble, so that would make his statement in the saiyan saga a plothole. But the story is canon while the special isn't necessary so. But what I think happened is Vegeta thinks that Tarble was dead or didn't acknowledge his existence due to his banishment, so that the special can indeed fit into the storyline of the manga.Herms wrote:Well, he obviously knew Trunks couldn't be Tarble, so probably he didn't want to bother revealing to everyone that he had an exhiled weakling brother. Not to mention he hadn't really become "friends" with anyone by that point, so there'd be no point in divulging useless information about his family to them.Herms wrote:Well, he obviously knew Trunks couldn't be Tarble, so probably he didn't want to bother revealing to everyone that he had an exhiled weakling brother. Re: On why Vegeta forgot about Tarble
I doubt he did just forget, perhaps he just merely didn't give a damn. He was probably so wrapped up in his own world. That finding his weakling brother (if he even knew of his wherabouts and if he was even alive) in vegetas mind would just bring him extra baggage.
Although his reaction to tarble, and especially tarbles teeny tiny wife was quite amusing =)

This. He even claimed he was the strongest fighter in the universe despite knowing full well that some of Freeza's troops, Freeza himself, and Beers the God of Destruction were all more powerful than him.saiyanprincess wrote:I doubt he did just forget, perhaps he just merely didn't give a damn. Re: On why Vegeta forgot about Tarble
You can't forget someone who doesn't exist. Tarble was made up long after the series ended. And it was done horribly.
Speaking from in-universe perspective, Vegeta's first thought about Trunks would exactly be Tarble. But there's not a slightest implication that Vegeta wasn't certain about there only being 2 pure Saiyans left: him and Goku.
If you choose to go with Tarble's existance, you choose to not go with the original series (or JSAT overwrites certain things of the original).

Re: On why Vegeta forgot about Tarble
You can say the same thing about most of the stuff in the manga, Toriyama didn't plan ahead at all. Why is Freeza called the most powerful in the universe when there's Kaioshin? Because Toriyama didn't plan ahead like that. Vegeta thinks he's the most powerful in the universe before Freeza is introduced, he's far from it at the time. Go back to Piccolo Daimao, why was he giving birth to things that weren't namekian? Is there actually an explanation for that? There's more, and the ones I've posted can be argued against, but I'm just saying near enough everything in the manga didn't exist until Toriyama had a moment of inspiration (if that's what you want to call it ).
Am I right in thinking he also said he wished he planned ahead with Goku being a Saiyan?

Re: On why Vegeta forgot about Tarble
I find it odd when people say: Tarble is not a real character because Vegeta didn't mention him when they encountered Future Trunks for the first time.
Tarble didn't exist at that time. He was created a long time after the series had ended, and they can hardly go back and change things to fit him into the story. And about Vegeta not mentioning his brother, why would he? As far as I believe, Vegeta thought him to be dead.

Re: On why Vegeta forgot about Tarble
Maybe he didn't even consider him to be a Saiyan? He killed Nappa when he could no longer fight, and refused to bring back Raditz because he was weak. Maybe in Saiyan culture, one who couldn't fight wasn't considered to be a Saiyan?

I wonder if tarble and vegeta supposedly had the same mother?

Re: On why Vegeta forgot about Tarble
Tarble is a retcon, but not a horribly continuity-warping one, or anything. Just assume Vegeta briefly considered him mentally during the whole Trunks thing, but quickly dismissed the thought for the following reasons:hleV wrote:You can't forget someone who doesn't exist. - He was weak, and likely wouldn't be able to become a SSj. Likewise, any child that he could spawn would also be too weak for said transformation.
- He was sent far away, from a planet that was already far away. Why would he come here, and how would he know to get here, let alone his son? Granted, he did eventually find out how to get to Earth and indeed did so, but just because he did something that would sound preposterous doesn't make it sound any less preposterous.
