Yardrat-Schmardrat. Why didn't Kami teach teleportation?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Yardrat-Schmardrat. Why didn't Kami teach teleportation?

Post by Dayspring » Sun Feb 29, 2004 12:21 pm

In DB volume 19 Kami teleports to Enma's palace to retrieve Goku and teleports the two of them back to Kami's palace. In other words: Kami knows teleportation. Why didn't he teach it to Goku when he trained him? Why have him go aaaalll the way to Yardrat for upwards of a year? Other than plot-hole, the only explanation I can think of is that Kami's teleportation is devinity-based, meaning it only goes back and forth between Kami and Enma's palaces.

I agree with you about your theory Dayspring, except that the explanation could also be that Kami's teleportation abilities are there because of his divinity, hence in his case, it's not a skill he can teach to a mortal. It seems to be the same case with Kibito.

Enma was probably all "that's just some randomly chosen kid from another planet! He didn't go through the divine training or anything! NO TELEPORTATION FOR HIM!"

That Emna can be a right bastard at times, can' t he? Probably due to a lack of social skills caused by years of being ONE HUNDRED TIMES THE SIZE OF EVERYONE ELSE!

Enma should marry a Low Level Saiyan Women in Oozaru form.

Because Kami is god and doesn't want to give Goku his god-like powers...or whatever. That's the problem with making up as you go along...you tend to ignore plotholes.

Like in DB when Namu was against Goku in his first Strongest Under the Heavens Tournament. Well, not really a plothole, but anyway:

Goku decides to spin on his tail, but then gets really dizzy and collapses. Namu then decides to knock Goku out by jumping really, really high into the sky, and strike him with a blow that would put him out cold for a week (at least I think). Why didn't he simply just PICK HIM UP, and DROP HIM out of the ring for the easy victory?

Yeah, I have a lot of time on my hands. Excuse me.

God, one of the many reasons I hated that filler. Having Paikhaun defeat Cell was ridiculouse.

That wasn't filler. It was in the manga too. Rather than picking him up and throwing him out, he does his move "The Heavenly Cross".

Gah, you gotta be kidding me. It still makes no sence! Their's no way he's more powerful than Cell.

As I recall, Namu was *about* to kick Goku out of bounds after Goku fell unconscious, but then thought twice: "If I try to kick him out of bounds, he might try that tail stunt again!" (Goku tripped him with his tail earlier in the match).

Basically, Namu didn't want to take the chance that Goku would suddenly revive, trip him, and make HIM fall out of bounds.

Getting back on topic, though, I brought up this week's question to AFD some time ago, and yeah, the basic response that was generated was "Kami-sama can only teleport to and from the afterworld".

Perhaps Kami didn't teleport but was teleported by a devise of Enma, its not a technique.

No... I'm pretty sure it was done of his own free will.

Did the Kami teleportation happen in the manga?

Oh, and for PsyLiam: If age is what determines if you have the technique, how exactly does that work? "It's my birthday! Wait, what the hell?"
