Seems valid to me. The op said he was working on a fanfic and wants to know what can hurt Saiyans. He didn't specify that their guard will always be up so a valid answer is to attack when their guard is down.

Yes I did specifically leave the question kind of open-ended to see what people thought. Specifically I'm working on a scene where one of the main Saiyan characters (future Trunks) is in a spaceship as it crashes into a planet from high orbit. So just trying to figure out how damaged he might be from that, though I never planned on it being a lot. I was thinking he may be a little banged up from the force of a spaceship crashing from high orbit, but nothing serious. I just have a hard time seeing him come out of that completely unscathed. FYI: he's not alone in the spaceship so he can't just blast a hole in it and fly out without hurting the other people with him who cannot use ki like he does, so there's that too.

You could perhaps have him protect himself and the other occupants of the ship with a ki shield as it explodes.
