Which would be more powerful? A Super Saiyan 3 version of Future Trunks' Mastered Super Saiyan 2 or Super Saiyan God?

Which would be more powerful? A Super Saiyan 3 version of Future Trunks' Mastered Super Saiyan 2 or Super Saiyan God?

Since Future Trunks from Dragon Ball Super showed it was possible to fully-master Super Saiyan 2, would it have surpassed Super Saiyan God, if let us say Goku had been able to have completely mastered his Super Saiyan 3 form in a similar fashion to Future Trunks?

Also, if by some chance, you had ran into some trouble like Ribrianne, which of the 2 forms of Super Saiyan would you have chosen to confront the anathema with?

God and Super Saiyan 2 are on different levels of power. Gokuh shows this in his battle against Toppo. Trunks’s Super Saiyan 2 is still Super Saiyan 2. It’s not another form. Trunks has increased the power of his normal form for his Super Saiyan 2 to be able to be as strong as Gokuh’s Super Saiyan 3. Super Saiyan 2 doesn’t have a set power. It’s a multiplier depending of the user’s normal form. If Present Trunks had Super Saiyan 2, it probably wouldn’t be as strong as Future Trunks’s Super Saiyan 2. Trunks didn’t master Super Saiyan 2. If he did, we were never told. Super Saiyan God is a stronger form than Super Saiyan 2 so there’s your answer.

Meshack, I was addressing if Super Saiyan 3 could surpass Super Saiyan God if it was mastered like how Future Trunks had done to Super Saiyan 2. Akira Toriyama, Toyotarō, and their accomplices are obviously showing the forms of Goku in such a fashion in order to introduce the next transformation for them to market the hell out of for next year. From both the Anime and Manga adaptations of the Dragon Ball Super series, Future Trunks had taken his time in getting used to his Super Saiyan 2 form in order to maximize it's power to equal SSJ3. Which allowed him to enhance his Super Saiyan 2 like how Goku and Gohan did to their Super Saiyan forms. Super Saiyan God is a form so powerful, only a Super Saiyan 4 could even hope to rival it's power. Yet, Future Trunks showed it was possible for a Super Saiyan 2 to be even with a Super Saiyan 3. Now, if Super Saiyan 3 could be mastered in very much the same way as Future Trunks did with Super Saiyan 2, then the Full Power Super Saiyan 3 form would have both surpassed SSJ4 and SSJG.

If Trunks went Super Saiyan 3 on top of his super-strong Super Saiyan 3, he would (according to the guidebooks) become four times stronger. It is unknown how much stronger Ssj God is compared to any previous form, but I find it hard to believe it would only be fourfold stronger or less.

Ribrianne is a perfectly fine character. Sorry you can't appreciate magical girl parody.

It was never said Super Saiyan 4 rivals Super Saiyan God. If anything, God is a much, much stronger form. It was never said Trunks mastered Super Saiyan 2. Don’t know where people are getting this from. Super Saiyan 2’s power depends on the normal form of the user. If Trunks trained his normal form enough, Super Saiyan 2 Trunks could be stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Gokuh or Super Saiyan God Gokuh. That’s why his Super Saiyan 2 is as strong as Super Saiyan 3 Gokuh. Super Saiyan 3 alone cannot surpass Super Saiyan God. 3 is on a different level from God and God is a much stronger form. Like I said, it depends on the normal users’ normal form

SsjG in the movie and manga is shown to be a thing beyond anything a Saiyan can reach with normal Ki even with fusion so I don't think so.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Trunks hasn't fully mastered Super Saiyan 2. He has improved it, but not as much as Vegeta. From what we have seen, Super Saiyan 2 has three "stages":

Normal Super Saiyan 2 - which makes the Saiyan twice stronger than his Super Saiyan form.
Powered-up Super Saiyan 2 - which makes the Saiyan almost as strong as a Super Saiyan 3 (Future Trunks' SS2 in Super).
Super Saiyan 2 Full Power - which makes the Saiyan dozens of times stronger than a Super Saiyan 3 (Vegeta's SS2 since BoG).

The Super Saiyan forms draw out dormant powers, they are not amplification techniques like the Kaio-ken. This means they are not literal multipliers, they don't amplify the user's base power, they draw out extra power & add it to the base power. For example, Super Saiyan draws out power that is x50 greater than the base power, it doesn't make the base power x50 greater. This is why Goku's stamina was restored when he first turned Super Saiyan. This is also why SS Goku wasn't significantly stronger than base Goku after Goku absorbed the SSG power in BoG; Goku already had the SSG power in his base form, so adding the SS power didn't really do much.

So, we can't really know if Super Saiyan 3 on top of a Powered-up or Full Power Super Saiyan 2 would make the Saiyan much stronger. Personally, I believe that the boost would be increadibly small. The way I see it, Trunks' SS2 form is so strong because it draws out not only SS2 dormant powers, but SS3 dormant powers as well, and Vegeta's SS2 draws out even more dormant powers beyond SS3.

Super Saiyan 3 is a flawed form like Super Saiyan Grade 2 & Super Saiyan Grade 3, but I don't believe they are completely useless. I believe the purpose of Super Saiyan Grade 2 & 3 is to teach the Saiyan that he shouldn't use these forms, and instead focus on regular Super Saiyan, which leads to Super Saiyan Full Power, a form superior to Grades 2 & 3 (even though it's not actually stronger than regular SS in terms of battle power), and then even further to Super Saiyan 2 & Super Saiyan 3. Likewise, the purpose of Super Saiyan 3 is that the Saiyan should abandon it & focus on Super Saiyan 2, which leads to the Powered-up Super Saiyan 2, and then even further to Super Saiyan 2 Full Power. Absorbing the power of Super Saiyan God leads to the Saiyan abandoning Super Saiyan 2, and focusing on regular Super Saiyan (which doesn't have significant flaws), which leads to Super Saiyan Blue.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
