Confusion about the 12 universes.

This admittedly sprung from battle board discussions but now I'm more interested in the way Super handles things. So, we all know about the "Dragon World" that Super calls Unoverse 7. We have the Living World, which is seperated with one half being the mortal universe and the other being the Makai realm. Then we have the Afterlife, and then the Supreme Kais realm which is stated to exist explicitly outside the other realms.

In Super, the 12 universes seem to be just referring to the mortal universe early on, but then we have the dbs manga show the classic map of the Dragon world calling everything a Universe.

So is everything just considered to be one universe despite then being different realms? Another thing is the Daizenshuu says the mortal universe is an endless and expansive space with galaxies that exist infinitely in all the universe but also says there are literal barriers that enclose it, yet in Super we don't see anything of the sort either. Would this stuff have to he essentially retconned minus the original map that was in the Daizenshuu?
