Is There Any Noticeable Difference Between A Power Level of 1,000,000 and 1,000,001?

Would the characters just say that its the same PL or would they actually distinguish the PLs based solely on the single point of BP?

Well. Given a Normal Human Farmer with a Shotgun is a 5 and Kid Goku with a 10 could tank Bullets, Lift Cars and Topple Trees.

Yeah I'd imagine it probrably would be.

Except both PLs in this case are capable of doing the same things, just with one PL being a single point higher. Is that enough to actually be considered " stronger"?

I'd Imagine the difference would be like the difference between an Olympic Sprinter and Usain Bolt. Yeah they can both run fast, but one is definelty faster than the other.

No I don't think that there would be much, if any. A jump in Battle Power from 10 to 15 is a 50% improvement, while a jump from 1,000,000 to 1,000,001 as a percentage is proportionally less.

Yes but you also have to take into account how big a jump that is. even though an increase from 5 to 10 is a x2, its far stronger than a x2 multiplier. The difference between a Normal Fat Guy with a Shotgun and a Guy who can tank bullets is massive.

Even the strongest person on the planet in real life can't survive being shot by a bullet. An increase of 1 powerlevel is realtive to potentially a x2 increase in power on its own.

Now that you have made that point, a jump in Battle Power from 10 to 15 wouldn't be a 50% increase in strength, would it?

Edit: Actually, it probably wouldn't be exponential at all. It just logarithmic. For example; at Battle Power 10, to gain a 50% increase in strength you would have to reach a Battle Power of 12 (just hypothetical).

However, at Battle Power of 1,000,000, to gain a 50% increase in strength you would have to reach a Battle Power of say 22,000,000. The higher one's Power Level is, the more Battle Power you need to gain that 50% in strength.

The tradeoff being that it becomes exponentially easier to increase Battle Power the higher you are. For example; to increase from a Battle Power of 10 to 12 you would have to put in say 650 hours of training, but to increase from a Battle power of 1,000,000 to 22,000,000 you would only have to put in that same 650 hours. So I guess it caps and evens out.

Image

Back to the original question. Based off my dumb logic an increase from 1,000,000 to 1,000,001 would be hardly significant, but you wouldn't have to put any effort into achieving it. At that point your Power Level is going up when you are just standing still.

TL;DR - I'm tired

Given that the difference is only 1/1,000,000 between these two powers, it would be more like two guys bench pressing 250 Ibs except one of them has a feather taped to their bar.

The problem is that its 1/1,000,000 of their powerlevel, not their actual power. Again, the difference would be far more noticable. It wouldn't be a massive difference but the one with 1,000,001 would probrably win in a fight.

If they fight with an equal amount of vigor, it's going to be the same power. Piccolo noted that Majin Vegeta had power "perhaps" greater than SSJ2 Gohan, being a little uncertain if Vegeta had surpassed such a level, yet he was matching SSJ2 Goku who was stated to be definitively stronger than Gohan was against Cell. Evidently, two powers that are very close can be differentiated but the winner cannot be determined by that alone.

Actually it's quite possible to survive, depending on where you're hit. There are documented cases of people surviving being shot dozens of times. I think what you meant to say is that no one IRL can be hit by a bullet and have it just bounce off their skin and leave a bruise (unless it's a rubber bullet or something).

We don't even know what the fuck the unit of measurement for battle power is, let alone how it scales. It's not supposed to matter. It was all just numbers the villains could shout to enhance the stakes. If it was up to Toriyama purely, someone with a power level of 1,000,001 would open up a universal can of whoopass on someone with a power level of 1,000,000 exactly because of how insignificant of an increase it sounds.

The extremely small difference should fall within the idea of them being evenly matched. From looking at most interactions between fighters of greater differences indicated that the much higher level fighter could just tank attacks or evade the lower leveled.

Unfortunately, after the Z portion of the series, we don't really get any evenly matched fights.

The characters never specify battle power's to that degree, they leave it vague and just say "over 8,000" or "over one million." That leads me to believe that the rest of the number isn't that important. Goku could have been anything from 8,001 to 8,999, but it's just "over 8,000."

I doubt a single point would make any noticeable difference once they're in the millions.

Heck, even before the millions (back when they first got into the thousands+ range) nobody really mentioned specific hundreds or tens much anymore unless they're quoting exact scouter readings (like when Nappa was scanning the Earthlings before any fighting broke out), implying that they probably don't make much difference at that point. There's the statement of Raditz being on par with a Saibaiman despite Raditz having a guidebook-stated level of 1500 and the Saibamen having PL 1200 (implying that a couple hundred isn't that big of a difference once you go over 1000), and then there's how Goku during his fights with Nappa and Vegeta was only ever said to be "over 8000," and how Freeza in his second form only boasts that he has a power level "over a million" rather than being more specific.

It seems like when you're in the single digits or maybe low tens, a single point is huge (especially going by the comparison of regular human farmer PL 5 vs. kid Goku PL 10), but the higher you go the less difference it makes. Once you're in the thousands a single point seems so insignificant that it might as well just get rounded up/down to the nearest nice round number (like Goku's "8000" or Freeza's "million.")

No. Unless there's factors that only involve pure stats, you won't notice a difference at all.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

There's probably no noticeable difference even between BPs of 100 and 101. A measly one-point difference when you get up to the 1 million range would be even more statistically insignificant.

Goku and Piccolo were dead even in their fight despite Raditz' scouter in the Saiyan arc reading them as 416 and 408 respectively. Granted, in those five years Goku could have pulled away from Piccolo, but they were still being portrayed as equals, so it's fine to assume there were some differences in their battle powers when they faced off at the tournament. So no, I agree with Kaboom that once you're above a certain threshold (100 seems like a good one), a difference in single digit units becomes negligible.
