So I was searching for some nostalgic goodness but it seems the original DBZ Uncensored is no longer available. Stumbling across this at the 'sequel' site the notes about what FUNimation based their scripts on makes me a little weary of the site, in fact much of the sites content does. I trust y'all here like family so I was a wonderin' if both info in the link, and even the site itself, holds water as well as a champion bladder controller.

I remember hearing a long time ago about how FUNi had horrible translations to work with and that's part of why the dub sucks.

Had not they hired Daimao back when they ditched Saban? Wouldn't they have been able to use his translations?

They hadn't hired him yet as of Season 3. Back then, FUNi was telling us that there would never be any subtitled releases.

Ah, I see. Fukunaga speaks Japanese, doesn't he? Had only he had the patience to do some sort of translation to spare us the pain of those lines.

Didn't the English dubbing of Samurai Pizza Cats involve muting the footage and telling a scriptwriter to make up an English script to go with it?

Actually, they didn't send the scripts or anything like that period, just the footage I think, so they didn't have a choice but to just make it up.

Is there a link to the interview of that anywhere? I think it was with an inbetweener (an animator) for Toei, or something. I remember it being here a couple of months ago and now it's just disappeared.

It's kinda interesting that that guy quit when he thought that One Piece would of been horrible mangled.....cuz, you know, it came out pretty good.

As for Dragonball, I would be pretty upset if someone screwed up my hard work.

The 4Kids dubs was horrible but at least the FUNimation dub has been excellent.
