There's no way that's true in the slightest XD This better be a joke cuz I can't read you but if this is real then there better not be an edited buu on dvd. Sorry if I can't read if your joking or not I take the Buu Kai release really seriously.

Tell me about it. I planned my Dragon Ball home video collection around The Final Chapters. What goes on DVD, what goes on Blu-ray, when to get 'parts' and when to get seasons, how to manage shelf space...Tobi555 wrote:I take the Buu Kai release really seriously.
FUNimation's lucky the Japanese and French releases don't have English subtitles. I'm guessing the Taiwanese one doesn't, either.

Not gonna lie, this actually made my day!ShadowDude112 wrote:I just discovered from a worker at FUNi why this isn't realeased. It turns out, Justin Rojas walked in on Rick Santorum telling Gen Fukanaga that having Buu being pink and having an antennae would convince people to masturbate. So they're in the process of editing it so Buu is now green to fit the tint of the footage and he has no antennae.
In all seriousness, I agree with VegettoEX that it wouldn't be entirely a surprise if it's been canned because of Super.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
But it doesn't make sense they don't even have the rights to Super and they've already invested tons of time and money spent toward the voice actors to record it it'd be a waste of money to not at least release it cause then you don't even get a shot at trying to make profit or let alone break even. It's just not like Funimation to do that especially since its supposedly done by this point. Not to mention its not a show we DON'T know about it leaked and we all caught wind. It's not like Funimation to cancel a "New" DBZ product. I could see them cancelling a show the public doesn't know about but at this point they already had to have paid for the rights anyways also. There are so many factors and business perspectives that need to be taken into account. Honestly we won't know for sure until Toonami gets to the point of airing Buu Kai unless Funimation says something sooner.

I asked Justin Rojas during a twitch stream about any news on the Buu saga for Kai. He said "No updates at the moment". Not even a hint on its progress.

The wait is painful. Just release it already and focus on Super!TrunksOfTheFuture wrote:I asked Justin Rojas during a twitch stream about any news on the Buu saga for Kai. He said "No updates at the moment". Not even a hint on its progress.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I'm starting to think we won't see it until Toonami catches up. The UK Anime Network's Twitter said, in response to a question about Super, that Toei usually looks for a television deal before allowing anything to be released: https://twitter.com/ukanime/status/657581405002735616
That was linked by someone on Funimation's Facebook page.
Does anyone know how reliable UK Anime Network is? Are they typically credible in what they say/report? If it's true, then we'll probably have to wait until the Toonami airing reaches the Buu episodes for Kai. And well........that just sucks.

I was just making a joke about how Rick Santorum does business with FUNimation. That's all. Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Well, I don't know how legit this info is but apparently a Bandai employee said that the Buu figuarts will come out around the same time as the Buu saga coming out in North America, so whenever any Buu figuarts goes up for preorder, we should expect the Buu saga to come out soon, but like I said, I don't know how legit this info really is
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
This comes from Manga UK's Jerome, who stated at the MCM in London the other week that Toei look for a TV deal, and the home video release won't come until they either get it, or eventually give in.thaman91 wrote:I'm starting to think we won't see it until Toonami catches up. I think it is now becoming more evident that we won't see "The Final Chapters" of Kai on home video until it has begun to air on Toonami, which will be this time next year, as they've reached #45 this week, so are roughly half way.
One year left to wait.

If we're lucky they'll start releasing it after they sign the deal.DBZ_Lee wrote:

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
At this point I'll take what I can get its better than being cancelled I've been dying on holding off on buying anything Kai related because I wasn't gonna buy an unfinished series so the second its announced I'm jumping on the Kai train. XD Despite the fact that I grew up with Z. Did Kai air new episodes one by one on nicktoons when Kai began its North American run then go to dvd and blu ray or was it always released in parts first? Maybe contractually since Final Chapters is a part of Kai they still have to abide by that TV deal that the first run of Kai had, assuming that my question is right that it aired on TV first. XD

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Air Kai from the beginning on Cartoon Network (the kid's block, not toonami). I'd love to have another wave of dragon ball fans like we had when kai was brought to Nicktoons. I, being one of these newcomers from Kai back in like 2011, remember how amazing it was to be introduced to such an amazing series and community for the first time. I'd love for another generation of children to be able to experience that. Maybe then when it catches up to the buu saga they could release the dub. I'm sure everyone would hate for this to happen, but I think it'd be a smart move financially for Funimation and Cartoon Network . They already have the rights, why not edit it a bit for the children and air it primetime?

So APPARENTLY...
I have HEARD that...
Schemmel has not recorded his lines yet. Mike McFarland said his stuff was done months ago.
I heard this from people who spoke to them, not from them themselves.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Theres no way Sean hasn't recorded at this point cuz he's mentioned parts of Buu Kai that he has recorded on panels and podcasts. An example would be the big bald broadcast that featured Sean and Sean's panel at Comic Con this year. Specifically saying "I just recorded in Kai cuz we gotta finish up the Buu saga..." then continued to talk about the moment when Gohan was sent back to earth to fight Buu and how that scene impacted him in Kai.

Sean Schemmel Mentions Recording Buu Saga Kai
So it's happening and probably finished or in post production.
It's just a matter of when.
Weird that they wouldn't release it as soon as possible in the wake of the latest movie, but as some have suggested perhaps they want to follow on immediately with Super as Kai ends and that requires some unfortunate buffering time.

My guess that we won't see the Buu saga Kai until it airs on Toonami. That's probably why we haven't seen Funimation announce it since it probably won't happen until next year.

Honestly your probably right and since we've said before that Toei usually looks for a TV deal that means that we really probably do have to wait til Toonami for Buu Kai and I don't even think Funi has the rights to Super yet.

Damn it, I really want to see it! I'm curious to see how they approached the scene they were talking about, it sounds really good!Lucrei wrote:Sean Schemmel Mentions Recording Buu Saga Kai

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
A part of me likes to think its taking so long because they are editing out the green tint and altering the aspect ratio back to 4:3.
But that has the same chance as a snowball in hell.
