May 2016! Man, that's still a long way off. At least we're getting it though :P I'll hold off on pre-ordering until closer to the time.

Long wait indeed. Feels like I'm waiting for a square enix game.

Wow. Viz just drops the ball even more. They announce Full Color Dragon Ball, but turn around and say "have fun waiting 10 months for it". They are out of their minds if they honestly think that's a good idea. I can already read all of Dragon Ball. If I want, I can just import the Japanese one. Since it'll be the same, just with no English. I guarantee they'll use the same translation. They probably won't even bother to take out the H word in their translation. In fact, they'll probably edit the art so it fits that. Mark my words, they'll do that. They already censored Popo's lips. So, they'll probably edit Mr. Satan. Because, guess what? Viz doesn't know what they're doing.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

For those that haven't seen it yet, Viz published the cover of the first Freeza volume a few days ago:

They're coming. (Only 5 more months to go... :| )

I actually quite like the purple tone they gave to the cover's edges. Helps to differentiate the arcs from each other.

Man, I can't wait for this! I hope it keeps doing well enough to warrant Cell, Buu, and then the original Dragon Ball stuff.

The Japanese also did it this way, it's not Viz's idea. Not to mention, since we're now (hopefully) going to have print editions of the "pre-Z" era, the count would have to start from number 1 again anyway. They couldn't even have different volume counts for the "pre-Z" and "Z" eras, like they did with the tankoubon, even if they wanted to, since now all of it's just "Dragon Ball" from start to finish (finally!).

Really like that cover and the purple is nice. Changes it up a bit. To go back to Volume 1 is a bit of an odd choice...

Forgive me if this has been previously answered, but is it confirmed that these will be using the same larger format that the Saiyan Arc used?

It's part of the same release so they probably will.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Yep, and its the one thing the US release has over the Japanese versions which I believe arent much bigger than the normal Tankobans. It allows the art to really breathe and the paper quality is amazing. Only downside is we still get out dated translation from VIZ.

As far as visual censorship, how are the Viz versions?

Only censorship I've seen is the continued removal of Mr. Popo's lips. Probably too much effort to do much more. Censoring visuals requires some level of redrawing, and full color would massively add to the complexity of that.

It's been a few months, but Amazon now has listings for the remaining 'Freeza' volumes:
http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Full- ... 421585731/
http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Full- ... 42158574X/
http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Full- ... 421585758/
Looks like they're planning on rolling these out every couple of months, which is a pretty reasonable schedule. It'll be wrapped up three days into 2018. Hopefully they can keep up this pace, although I don't expect them to start bringing out the Cell arc as soon as this is over. As long as we don't have to wait another two years...!

Speaking of which, the next volume is due out in under a month. Looking forward to it! The cover art for the second volume was also put up a while back, but no one's posted it in this thread yet, so for the sake of being complete:
Chucked it in a spoiler tag because of its size. Pretty much the same as the original, anyway.

I'm getting more and more tempted to buy these....I have no idea why lol. But regarding popo, I don't know whey they don't do a panel similar to this?
Image

Outside of this and blue popo no one has really said anything or tried to censorhim in any home release. I think this warning is all we need as (like the old WB cartoons) the goal is to maintain the original art.

Huh, I wonder why WB didn't use that for Tom and Jerry's Golden Collection #2 (should've been released 3 years ago) instead of getting completely cancelled (because if they were to release by their mentality it'd be censored and that wouldn't be any good either). Viz should use something like that just so 'overly sensitive' parents would get off crying over how wrong this and that is.

If the Dragon Ball anime were being censored in its home release, I think a 'trigger warning' like the one above would be a brilliant way to make everyone happy. "You're right to be angry at these things, but to censor them would be wrong as well." That said, I'm glad this isn't the case.

But I don't think this works for manga. A DVD you have to take home and put in a DVD player to watch. A book you can just pick up off the shelf and examine. Didn't censoring the manga allow Viz to drop from a T (teen) rating to A (all ages) which helped them sell their products in more places like Walmart and such? I could still see people throwing a fit about it. I wish it could work like this, but I don't see it happening.

True. Or they could sell and uncut "adult" edition that is plastic wrapped in the store. Sounds a little over the top for somthing revolving around popo but I just wasnt a full uncensored version! LOL
