Katsura's was a given (I notice it's in color too, is it kind of the central picture or something?), but Watsuki's was a great surprise.
Gyt, you know that you are supposed to let me know when these things happen. Shame.

I can't take any credit, someone over at /a/ is posting various photos of the guidebook.

I'm guilty of not letting Kamiccolo know either, forgot he was a big Kenshin fan lol. I love the Watsuki one so much

Note: I posted this in the Super announcement thread first and found this later, not sure where it fits.

Has this been posted yet? I heard its BOG's script that Toriyama wrote but It doesn't look like one to me. Others are saying its a new movie again. It's from the 30th Anniversary book I believe.
This is all I know from a bit someone posted which was poorly translated with google :
Screenplay: Akira Toriyama
Director: Daisuke Nishio
character design and animation director: Kubota oath look at the DB Mitee

My copy of this book should be arriving tomorrow. Really trying to avoid most... uh... spoilers(?) for the book until I get it in my hands. :-D

My copy just arrived. It's a big and fancy book, so I don't want to touch it much until I get over this cold I have. But I did check Toriyama's message, and if anyone was still on the fence about the Super complaint being legit, it's definitely real. It also might be worth noting that Toriyama's message is much longer than what's in that photo and takes up an entire page.

It's simply animator Chikashi Kubota talking about how much of an influence the DB anime was on him. Absolutely 100% nothing to do with a new movie; whoever said that's what it was about must have been lying.

Got my copy in last night, and I gotta say, this book is absolutely fantastic. As I own the Chouzenshuu, I really shouldn't be surprised by how comprehensive these books can be, but good lord is this expansive.

My only experience with Japanese extends to being able to decipher Katakana and Hirigana, but I'm still able to get a lot out of this, and it's cool to have a more up-to-date visual summary of Dragon Ball as a whole than the previous guidebooks left off.

10/10 go buy it.

I believe its still in stock on Amazon Japan from what I can tell? Is Amazon Japan the site most people use? I'd love to own the Super History book but I've never used any international websites before. This might totally be worth it though.

A translation of the book's introduction just went up on the main site: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/translations/ ... roduction/
Very nice message. Toriyama always comes across as so likeable.

I guess it's just too bad then for those that don't like Goku's Japanese voice:

"Then when the anime started up, Goku’s character was set in stone thanks to Masako Nozawa’s voice1, and as I was drawing the manga that cheerful voice would help keep him acting all on his own."

My policy is to try and forget things once they’re over. Since if I don’t discard the old and focus on what’s new, I’ll overload my brain capacity. I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.
Wow. That was hilarious, heartwarming and provides so much context in regard to the whole "Toriyama never remembers" schtick that fans love to bring and make fun of. I'm getting a little misty eyed...
