DRAGON BALL Z - THE MOVIES.
Again on DVD and for the first time on Blu-ray.
Next March 30st the Dragon Ball Z movies will be released for the first time on Blu-ray.
Such films have been restored in Japan from the original celluloid, and Selecta Visión has acquired this new restoration for the launch for the first time on Blu-ray and again on DVD.
Next week we'll show you the complete covers for the Blu-ray edition that are reversible and for which we used the original posters of the movies.
Good weekend to everyone!
As it's detailed in the images, the Blu-ray cases are in "Dragon Ball color" (orange, first edition only), and the movies are in its "original aspect ratio" (16:9), with the inclusion of spanish, basque, and catalan audio tracks, and the original japanese version with spanish subs.
Here's a comparison between their blu-ray and DVD editions:

No, why would it? It's fiction. The strength of the characters is not possible to reach in reality.
I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.
Any possibility they are based on FUNi's BD movie masters? I'd suspect so, if only for the slightly opened up framing compared to the Dragon Box The Movies shots. FUNimation's Blu-ray movies were also opened up slightly.
EDIT: Oops. Guess I should've read the original post... Maybe it is a new transfer... Very interested!
EDIT2: Did a quick screencap from the FUNi BD, scaled it down to the size of the Trunks Movie 7 example and made a comparison shot. Identical framing from FUNi BDs, just brightened up a bit. http://www.screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/160363

I am neither subbie nor dubbie, I am all that is good: I am a FANBOY!
It may be worth picking up a few of these in the future, seeing as FUNimation's movie Blu-rays range from "pretty good" to "mediocre" to "not very good".
Depending on the quality, these might have to get an import from me. I'm personally a fan of the Dragon Box color pallet, but that 2016 remaster looks leagues better than FUNi's Blu-rays.

I think they removed the color cast in that shot of Trunks. If that's the only major difference between color palettes, then I'm totally fine with that.

A restoration from Japan? Could it be possible? Has Toei actually scanned and restored some of its old films? I'd love to celebrate the end of the company's cheap upscales, but this seems too good to be true.

I love how everyone's so excited talking about how this looks "so much better than FUNimation's remaster", when that's exactly what it is and I saw it right away.
Identical colors, identical framing, the writing's on the wall. Also, the press release stating that they remastered it using the "original celluloid" is BS because those cels are all long gone and are either in fans' hands or destroyed.
On the subject of FUNi's film masters for the movies, aside from a couple of movies (1 and 6 at least), I honestly really like FUNimation's remastered film masters. I like the bluer skies and more natural skin tones, and on DVD the quality is pretty close to the Dragon Boxes.

I wonder why they always exclude the Galician dub only when it comes to movies. Anyway, I'm going to get this release if it includes the original Japanese titles and credits.

I noticed that at first glance, but the colors seem to be a little bit less saturated compared to FUNi's original footage.

They said they didn't reach an agreement with TVG (owner of the Galician dub).
I'll text them about Japanese titles and credits.

How about the Valencian dub by the way? Now with Canal Nou being gone, who's the right holder of the dub?

"Celluloid" is more often than not referring to actual film, rather than cels. I'm almost certain that's all they're referring to.
As for whether it's FUNi's remaster, I guess we'll see. Would be helpful to see a Blu-ray shot from FUNi's release to compare. The colours seem very marginally different, so it'd be nice to compare the grain levels.
I am so getting this. Just for the Japanese audio + Subs and I'm hispanic and I don't want anything near the Spain version of DB.
Big Green: Do whateveryoulike, Ghos

I see. Thanks for the clarification!
I guess it's also possible that these are FUNi's masters with all of the damage cleaned up, now that I think of it.

This forum is so over-dramatic that it's not even funny.
