What's the diff between Legacy of Goku 1 and 2 for the GBA. People I've spoken to say 2 is the best DB game after the budoukai series, but the LOG 1 was quite possibly one of the worst DB games ever (although I still hate Taiketsu more).

So what's the deal? Is 2 worth getting or will it be exactly like the first one? Sorry if you feel I should have started a new post for this, but you were talking about DB games so...

I split this from the other thread because it was going in a different direction, yeah :D. Huzzah for moderation powers!

I haven't played the first Legacy of Goku, but I thoroughly enjoyed the second one. I can't bring myself to beat it (mostly because I'm involved with too many other games at the moment, and kinda forgot about it), but it was a really fun time. Nothing huge for the video game scene, but if you're a DBZ fan, you'll like the game.

How does 2 work? Do you choose who you want to be and the game starts in diff sections?

In 1 you could ONLY play as Goku. That SUCKED when it came time to fight the Saiyans because everybody was already dead or beaten like in the manga. Then you take a single hit from Oozaru Vegeta and Oozaru battle is over. Same with Freezer. Although you fight all 4 forms, you do so as Goku in order to have a super-boss at the end of the game. (Vegeta dead, Piccolo beaten) It really sucked and was super short because everything was from Goku's point of view.

That's par for the course. In the first game, Raditz kidnaps Gohan, so Goku leaps on his trusty urine coloured cloud and races...home. Where he tidies up the garden a bit before wandering off and helping a child who is stuck on a pond as well as giving a boy a bunch of flowers to give to a girl and then placing stones in a river so a man scared of flying can get back to the shore which looks to be about 4 feet away and...

Goku probably does suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder though, so I can see him doing this.

"You'll pay, Raditz, for taking my...oh, look! Fluffy clouds!"

As someone who has ADHD....I was thouroughly amused by that!! I didnt like the first game but I do like the little bit of the second Legacy of Goku gamethat I've played. Even the little sprite animation when your character dies is cool in that game.

I'd like to direct a question to anyone who owns or played LOG1. Is it really as bad as everyone says it is? I'm interested in getting another DB game for gameboy, and as far as I know their's only LOG1, LOG2, Collectable Card Game, Legendary Super Warriors, and Taiketsu.

I already own Taiketsu (Steer waaaaay clear) so I want to know what else to try out. I've heard LOG2 was better than the first, but is LOG1 as unplayable as I've heard?

If you can rent LOG1, rent it. If you're like me where you level build like crazy and complete EVERY side-quest, you'll finish it in 30 hours MAX. If not, you'll finish it in 20-25 hrs. I bought it USED ($15-20 Canadian) and I regret that decision. It focuses on Goku WAY too much, so most of the saiyan and namek saga isn't played. And it ONLY covers the Saiyan and Namek sagas.

It's better than Taiketsu but only because it's an RPG and has a story. That's why I was asking about LOG2. If LOG2 is ANYTHING like LOG1, then it should be CRAP, but I keep hearing LOG2 is up there w/Budoukai on the fun-factor level.

Well, here's what happens in Legacy of Goku:

Goku find porn mags for Kame Sennin. (No, really. He does.)
Raditz shows up and kidnaps Gohan.
Piccolo shows up, tells Goku they'll cooperate to save Gohan, then disappears.
Goku goes home. (yeah..)
Goku runs around in the forest, beating up crabs and chipmunks, while being slaughtered by wolves.
Goku does a huge bunch of stupid sidequests, like retrieving a lost toy boat, and picking flowers.
An old man teaches Goku the Tayoken. (or how the hell it's spelled)
Goku fights Raditz while Piccolo watches. (teamwork my ass)
Piccolo kills both of them with his SPECIAL BEAM CANNON. (In caps. That's how the game put it)
Goku goes to another dimension (yes, the game is based on the dub)
Goku starts crossing the Snake Bridge, runs into Princess Snake, and kills her for no reason.
Goku falls off Snake Bridge and lands in.... HFIL. Yay.
Goku does more sidequests down there before going back to the beginning of Snake Bridge.
Goku reaches Kaiou's planet.
Goku catches Bubbles.
Goku hits Gregory with a hammer.
God calls Goku back to Earth.
God teaches Goku a new, powerful attack.. the Kamehameha. (right)
Goku starts walking towards the area Vejita and Nappa are.
Goku does more dumb sidequests, like stopping a bank robbery. (and those robbers are about as powerful as Nappa.)
Goku reaches the battlefield.
Goku fights Nappa while Gohan, Kuririn and Vejita watch.
Goku fights Vejita.
Vejita claims that he wasn't being serious and "powers up".
Goku fights Vejita again (he's a bit faster now. Just a bit)
Cutscene plays, where Vejita goes Oozaru, Yajirobe defeat him, blah blah.
Goku is now at Namek.
Goku does even MORE dumb sidequests, like planting trees.
Kaiou contacts Goku, and tells him Yamucha, Tenshinhan, Piccolo and Chaozu is at his planet. (None of them are ever mentoined again. And in the next game they're all alive at the beginning.)
Goku fights the Ginyu Squadron one by one while everybody else watches. (Not Guldo)
Goku goes to Freezer's ship.
Goku is put in the healing tank.
After he's healed, Goku exits the ship. Gohan, Kuririn, Vejita and Freezer are waiting for him.
Goku fights Freezer.
Goku fights Freezer's second form
Goku fights Freezer's third form.
Freezer enters form 4, and kills Kuririn. Goku goes SSJ.
SSJ Goku fights Freezer's fourth form.
The end.

Yep, all Goku. The game sucks. Don't buy it.
LoG2 is a lot better.

Thank God someone who's played both! Could you please do what you just did only for LOG2? I'm in the same predicament (sp?) only wondering if I should buy LOG2

That's hard to do, because you don't just play with Goku in LoGII. It's much, much more better than LoGI in many aspects. You play with about every main character there is (List: Gohan, Piccolo, Future Trunks, Vegeta, Goku), and each has a his own special physical attack, and several signature energy attacks (Like Kamehameha, Masenko, Big Bang, Burning Attack...). Your Ki bar indicates your Ki. You outta Ki, no more energy attacks. The Ki bar also determines Super Saiyan status. You have to have at least a tiny bit of Ki to become a Super Saiyan, and when you do, it drains your Ki slowly. Overall, VERY nice system to play with, plenty of characters, and lots and lots of attacks.

There are of course also Side Quests in the game (Like saving little children from a school bus, and... Fighting Cooler on New Namek.), and some of them are stupid, just like in part 1. That taken aside, though, LoGII stays pretty damn true to the original story, depecting almost every single event. It also gives you a great deal of liberty. You can fly onto the World Map (Which is surprisingly accurate compared to the original), and do whatever you want in between missions. The graphics are done nicely, and the gameplay is pretty damn addictive. I mean, seriously.

So, great game really. Apart from some minor flaws, WAY superior to part 1, and a really fun game to play if you're a DBZ fan. Whoa, that was long.

Cooler is in LOG2? Sweet, it looks like movie villians are finally making a come back! As far as I know, the only villians in a video game are Bojack, Broli, and now Cooler.

I seem to be a glutton for punishing, awful games, so I'll probably end up buying LOG1 first. Then LOG2 will be all the more satisfying.

On a scale of "meh" to "whoo!", LOG1 is a "Bah!" so be careful!

Garlic Jr was in the first NES DBZ game.

(and according to the translation patch of the first NES DB game, King Gurumez was in it. Although he looks like Buyon, fights like Buyon and is defeated like Buyon. So he probably is Buyon.)

Coola was also in the third NES DBZ game. That game was possibly my favorite of the NES games, but I always got stuck trying to find the jinzouningen...
