Madman's Dragon Ball Z: The Complete Collection (Blu-ray and DVD)
I just checked Madman's website and they have a complete collection of the FUNimation season Blu-rays and a collection of the FUNimations season DVDs (I assume the Orange Bricks) coming out on November 2. It will cost $399.95 AUD on both DVD and Blu-ray.
Not really sure why Gogeta is on the cover art since he's a movie character, and this collection doesn't seem to include the movies. Ah well.
UPDATE: Final cover art:
Here's a link to the product:

Thanks for telling me about this! This is actually a pretty good deal. I've basically given up on the idea of the Dragon Boxes, so this will be great for me.
It does say "Art not final". Hopefully, they'll fix the Gogeta issue. It makes me feel like they were supposed to put in Vegetto and got confused which fusion of Goku and Vegeta was in the actual series.

I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.

$AU400 / 9 = $AU44.
I'm sure you can get the seasons cheaper than that individually.. ?

Yeah in the U.S. you can pick them up on Amazon for $25-$30 each. So around $250 for all 9. This set will retail for around $300 in U.S. currency.LordCrumb wrote:$AU400 / 9 = $AU44.

Just judging by the prices on the Madman website, a Blu-ray season of Dragon Ball Z costs $59.95 AUD.LordCrumb wrote:$AU400 / 9 = $AU44.

According to the video on the madman site, its going to have the FUNimation dub and it will be 16:9. It's basically going to be the same Blu-ray season sets as the ones FUNimation released in the USI'm insaneFromEarth wrote:Will this set be like the Dragonboxes where it's in 4:3 or will this be a differnt dub not fron Funi or the Japanese one?

Really? that's a shame I was hoping it would be like the Dragonbboxes (which I do own) but I was hoping it might be like that or the level sets. Oh well no need for me to get this set lol.

I usually really like Madman's releases over Funimation's in terms of visual presentation, but the Funimation Blu-rays have such great art that this might be the first Madman release that I think actually looks worse... And this looks great.

Re: Madman's Dragon Ball Z: The Complete Collection (Blu-ray and DVD)
My first exposure to Madman was with their Dragon Ball singles. There was a period of time (I don't know if it's still the case) where the U.S. singles were pretty rare. I found all of the series with some U.S. singles and mostly Madman singles on eBay and went for it. The U.S. was the standard black DVD case with a DVD slot on each side of the inside with a book that listed the episodes. The Madman release had the movable piece of the discs inside, the DVD Case was see-through, and there was no booklet -- the episode list wa on the other side of the cover so you saw it with the see-through case. Very nice release. The menus were also a lot nicer.

True, but you never buy direct from the Distributor, always more expensive.Super Saiyan Swagger wrote:Just judging by the prices on the Madman website, a Blu-ray season of Dragon Ball Z costs $59.95 AUD.LordCrumb wrote:$AU400 / 9 = $AU44.

Wow! I never knew that, that's cool.

The MadMan releases have the episodes on the back of the cover, not on the inside?

Re: Madman's Dragon Ball Z: The Complete Collection (Blu-ray and DVD)
The DVD version of this set has actually had a couple of limited runs. If I recall correctly, it was last in print back in 2010. Fairly sure the second printing replaced the Gogeta image with a more appropriate one of Super Saiyan 2 Gohan and the rest of the cast. I'll see if I can dig up a photo for you.Super Saiyan Swagger wrote:I just checked Madman's website and they have a complete collection of the FUNimation season Blu-rays and a collection of the FUNimations season DVDs (I assume the Orange Bricks) coming out on November 2. EDIT: Took a surprising amount of digging, but here we go:
Just to confirm the original release were just the individual 'Orange Bricks' (in standard, DVD sized cases, though!) thrown together in a box. I assume the same will be true of the Blu-Ray season sets, so it'll likely still retain its cover art.TheGreatness25 wrote:I usually really like Madman's releases over Funimation's in terms of visual presentation, but the Funimation Blu-rays have such great art that this might be the first Madman release that I think actually looks worse... It's funny, I'd actually given up on the idea of owning the full Anime, especially with no further 4:3 releases in sight. I may just snap this set up, though.

Re: Madman's Dragon Ball Z: The Complete Collection (Blu-ray and DVD)
It's based on a 90s piece of art with Gotenks, Gohan and Gogeta. They just used that art (or at least a redrawing of it, judging by the altered shading) and Gogeta is part of the image. Maybe another piece would be more accurate, but at least it's a cool 90s piece of artwork, which fits with the series, and is better than the newer stuff on FUNi's Orange Brick DVDs and Season Blu-rays.MozillaVulpix wrote:It does say "Art not final". I'm sorry if I caused confusion. The episode list is on the inside because it's on the other side of the cover. Meaning the cover is double-sided and it's on the inside and visible because of the clear DVD case.

Ahh i'm sorry, I miss read you original post. You're talking about 'Dragon Ball', not 'Z'. I get ya now You are correct sirTheGreatness25 wrote:LordCrumb wrote: The MadMan releases have the episodes on the back of the cover, not on the inside?

The best part about the cover is that it looks like it should be a bootleg. Way to go, Madman.
