I went ahead and picked up some Speedy Dub VCD's; a couple of movies and I believe the Arrival VCD contains the Ocean Dub.

I just love the blurb on the back, it's like a movie mashup.

VCDs of the 'Speedy' release of certain media. The Arrival VCD contains episodes 1 and 2 of the Saban/Ocean dub. The Legend of Shenron VCD contains Funimations first dubbing of DB Movie 1. Finally the Super Saiya People, Goku VCD contains the Speedy Dub (Filipino English dub) of DBZ Movie 4.

The Speedy Dub is hilarious to watch, and I bought them mainly because they were a good price and I'm interested in alternative releases.

Ah ok. I think because of the case it was in and the fact I had never heard of it before I thought it was something else. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

What you see here is Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 51 from 1984. Indeed, released on November 20, 1984, it contains the debut of the Dragon Ball manga! Chapter 1, in all of its original glory! It's in great condition, too. I continue to be amazed by how well the Japanese take care of their belongings. The thing is basically a phone book from 1984 that sold for 170 yen. The page quality is so crappy that you're basically supposed to throw them out and buy the tankobon when it's released for your favorite series.

But luckily, a few copies were saved and now I own a piece of history!

The first page of Dragon Ball, ever! Fully colorized, it looks fantastic.

The other pages in this chapter are semi-colorized, using white and... orange? What a funny choice. As you can see by the title page, Goku's original outfit in Dragon Ball was blue. Maybe they saw these pages and figured he'd look better in orange some time down the road? :P

I look at how much Spider-Man #1 or Action Comics #1 go for these days and I hope I can one day sell it and buy a private jet with the money :)

just kidding, I think I love DB too much to let this one go!
Absolutely nice find!
May i ask you what you payed for this? Because, i see this Item occasionally on plattforms like eBay, but it goese between 200 and 400, never as an auction but as direct buy.
I managed to win it off Yahoo Auctions for about $150 USD. Seemed like a good price compared to what it usually goes for, and it was always one of my holy grail items anyways, so I was willing to pay up :D

Can somebody please explain what is in this and this and especially this?

No, why would it? It's fiction. The strength of the characters is not possible to reach in reality.
I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Odd. I thought Speedy dubbed some of the episodes. I pointed out that last VCD in particular because it appears to mention an episode skipped in Saban's run (Gohan and the robot). Are you saying its false advertising?

"Hello! Are you looking for a filler episode Ocean didn't dub in their run? Don't care how bad our dub of the movies can get? Too bad! We didn't dub that episode either."

I'm saying its probably lazy bootlegging. All of their covers feature mismatched screenshots to what's actually include on the VCDs. They probably don't know or dont care.

Wow. That's a stellar pick-up. I'd love to own a copy of that someday, though I imagine that took some hunting.

That's quite a promotion for Dragon Ball on the cover too. I know editorial was fairly set on this becoming his next long, hopefully-hit series, but they really went all-in on something that could have wound up being another short run, for all anyone knew. Though they were probably committed to at least two tankobons' worth of chapters either way.

Real nice, I wish I had picked that set up when it was going for £20-£30 in the sales.

My manga collection is complete, as I have all the others on my kindle and I have never read the last volume of DV, I decided to get a psychical copy.

Technically I'd already bought it and got it in a week or two ago, but my latest purchase was the same as many others no doubt - Xenoverse 2 (Day One Edition) for the PS4! Only problem was...I couldn't play it yet. I had yet to get a PS4. But after saving up for about two months or so, I was finally able to get a PS4 Pro (purely for the 1 TB of space, I don't really care much on the 4K end of things), and it finally got here just a while ago.
