Dragon Box the movies vs the rest of the Dragon Box's audio question
Dragon Box the movies has very clean audio when compared to the TV Series. Why is it that Toei kept the original audio masters for the movies but got rid of the original audio masters for the series?

I'm no connoisseur on the subject, but I'm pretty sure the movies got a VHS and Laserdisc release soon after their premiere. A home release was probably expect as opposed to the series.

Do the Toei VHS tapes of the movies have the master audio? Also what about the aspect ratio on those?

The Toei laserdiscs probably have the best audio for the old movies. The Funimation/Ocean/Pioneer laserdiscs have the best audio for that specific dub. Speaking of laserdiscs, somebody should rip all the Dragon Ball laserdiscs (both Toei and Funimation/Ocean/Pioneer) and sync the audio with the Dragon Boxes (bonus points for also providing a version of the ladder trying to remove as many of the Hanna-Barbara sound effects as possible)

The first few (DB 1-3, DBZ 1-3) were released open matte, but starting with DBZ movie 4 they were released letterboxed.DB1984 wrote:Do the Toei VHS tapes of the movies have the master audio? Also what about the aspect ratio on those?
